Set in the immediate aftermath of the zombie apocalypse, Left 4 Dead's survival co-op mode lets up to four players blast a path through the swarming zombie hordes and terrifying mutant monsters. Guide your survivors across the rooftops of an abandoned metropolis, through rural ghost towns and pitch-black forests in your quest to escape a devastated Ground Zero crawling with infected enemies.
It's a good game, a lot of add-on campaigns, and survival maps to download. Online play can suck at times with people treating the game like it's Counter-Strike: Source mixed with zombies. Be prepared to encounter ******** online. Don't let that put you off though, there is Single Player, should you feel that need to not deal with people online.
In the end, zombie shooters have been done to death. But Left 4 Dead brings some Co-op action into the mix, along with dynamic zombie spawning, this is sure to be a game that is worth the money.
Good survival game, with lots of zombies and special infected waiting to be ripped and mashed up. Request basic co-op strategies between 4 guys... maybe too basic. The only co-op things consists in do some covering fire, saving the teammates of special infected and lure tanks. Doesn't allow to prepare plans for advancing through the game, like take 2 different ways to a place, because you get caught by the infected and you are screwed. Also, got a lot of bugs, which come in handy for higher difficulties, but, obviously, it's not idea for this game. On the other hand, I actually like the AI Director: adds some action and difficult to the game by placing zombies at different places everytime. Unfortunately, once you complete all the campaigns, the game starts to get bored; not even the dinamism of the AI can reduce this huge disadvantage. Despite there is a story behind the game and the survivors, it's not very interesting so most people (I think) ignores it. If you like games about killing zombies and more zombies, you may prefer this one, adding some co-op action.
The first few moments of gameplay during the launch of Left 4 Dead certainly felt more like a grand social experiment more than a game. Thanks to this game, if surviving a zombie apocalypse means complete and utter reliance on three people you've never met before you will find me kissing the first gun I can find. While survival mode can be an exercise in patience, this game can actually be a lot of fun if you play it with some friends.
