i f**KING love it!
Thanks, I'm glad to hear that...Enjoy!
I dont like how ******* LOUD everything is, but it certainly makes me **** my pants when i get pounced on. love it!
lol yeah it's loud on purpose, to add a bit more psychological stress & increase the terror. Wait, that sounds kind of evil, doesn't it? >8D
This mod is great! The sound replacements for the zombies remind me a lot of 28 days later,
which is AWESOME!
(Heck, it even has edited versions of the 28 days later sound track, also awesome.)
Nice, Thank You for Your Positive Testimony :D
I wish darned Steam would let me play in offline mode... I would of tried it then =(
To those who downloaded & rated fairly, I Thank You. To those children who gave the mod a low rating for absolutely no reason, may you suffer painful testicular cancer and have to have them surgically removed so you will be unable to procreate :)
owch dude, just owch
Any chance of this becoming a VPK ?
:)
Thank you for your interest. I had initially planned to release a vpk version, and even had a couple of kind l4d2 modder folks trying to help me out with making one...but they discovered that, unfortunately, L4D2 does not support sound mod add-ons at the moment. If an update changes this, I may release a vpk version, though it's fairly easy to manually install it as-is.
the trick is, you must apply the snd_rebuildaudiocache command in console after you added the VPK, and presto!
Thanks for this info, GJ! I'm guessing this solution would have to exclude the mod's replacement content for 'The Passing'? VPK downloaders would then be missing out on some cool stuff, then :(
I think I found a solution to enable the sound in a VPK format, its a little unorthodox, but I reckon this will do until Valve comes up with a support for a more convenient way:
so
1, I separated the Passings sound files/folders ( left4dead2_dlc1 ) from the rest of the mod
2, renamed the sound folder left4dead2_dlc1 to pak02_dir
3, made a VPK out of it -> pak02_dir.vpk (no addoninfo)
4, copied this pak02_dir.vpk to the games's ...\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2_dlc1\ folder
5, It works! :D
Of course it's not as convenient as a real Addon VPK, eg. if you want to disable it you have to either delete the pak02_dir.vpk or move it, or maybe rename it.
That's an excellent work-around :D Nice job figuring that out and Thank You for sharing it. *Salutes*
I've already done that, ever since this great mod came out :)
for the basic game it's a fairly simple procedure, although this is a biggie (around 855MB - just the sounds) the system can handle it. one will have the luxury to turn it On and Off at will. I have yet to figure out a way to make vpks to the Passing DLC.
Hey bilian its me raptor matt just letting you know i checked out the vids and i love the sounds you made nice screaming ;D and the music is great. The gun sounds are great as well. We need to play more on that server =D
Hey, Raptor Matt! Thanks for stopping by & checking it out. I'll definitely be back on that server (as well as other U.S. servers) from time-to-time, so I'll see You then :D
Thank You for this sound pack, beyond excellent :), just a quick question while going through i could not hear the rain coming down and also the fire going through the buildings on dead center would rebuilding the audio cache fix these problems?? Many Thanks
Thank You for downloading & Enjoying it :) As for that sound issue, my mod doesn't alter or replace those particular sounds, but I would go ahead and try the snd_rebuildaudiocache console command and see if that fixes it for ya.
Just want to Thank You All for downloading this rather large, evil monster of a mod. If You choose to take a second to rate it, I'd certainly appreciate that. Have Fun, keep spreading the word & tell Your Friends!
Thanks for the reply, I should of commented back as yes it never even touches stuff to do with fire and rain, I just verified the cache and re added your great sound pack then all seems good, Thanks :)
man i really would like to install this but. well im just not that smart when it comes to all the sound files and stuff..lol i no how to add stuff to the add on folder but other than that...thats it..man i would love to have this..i wish it was in vpk so i could just put it in add-ons...lol...but man i sure would love to have this..i downloaded it but was confused.....but i bet its real cool
It's really easy, first just make a backup copy of your two original sound folders, (my mod's ReadMe tells you where they are), then open the mod you downloaded with WinRar or Winzip, and simply click & drag everything in it into your main directory (x:\Program Files\Left 4 Dead 2), choosing 'Yes' to overwrite.
Installing the custom textures is a little more involved, but if you want to only install the sounds, that's it!
Creepy-Brilliant
Thank You for the Compliment & for the rating!
did I read that correctly? version 1.1 coming up after Sacrifice DLC? yeeey! Also I was wandering if the new VPK built-in sound chase applies to this mod also...
Yes, that is correct GJ :)
Not sure what you mean by "the new VPK built-in sound chase". I was going to release v1.1 in much the same way as v1.0, (folder replacement structure), BUT since you thought of that brilliant work-around, would you be interested in helping me release a vpk version of it and be credited as such?
I'm sorry, somehow I always mix those 2 word up: I meant the sound cache - this update:
Store.steampowered.com
" Authoring Tools
- VPK files now support their own sound.cache file.
- Use the command "snd_buildsoundcachefordirectory " to create the sound.cache file that you should include when you create your vpk file. "
Sure, I'll be glad to help out if I can, but the credit should go to you, you're the one who done the hard part - I just merely fiddled with the files ;)
Cool, Thanks! I'd appreciate the help. For some reason, my vpk.exe only works with extracting files from add-ons, and does not work when trying to compile/create vpk's :p
That was still some clever fiddling! I'd still get credit for the mod itself, but you'd be credited for converting it to a vpk add-on :)
Okay, I've made some neat zipped-in VPKs: one for the main game sound&music (765,5MB), one for The Passing DLC sound&music (100,3MB), and one for the Midnight Riders posters&props Skins (6MB)! Now all it needs is a place to upload them... :)
PS - about the sizes: I used 7zip, because it had the best results on shrinking down the files, plus its a free app.
where
srry keybord ;p but where I can download the vpk ? still work after valve make problems with the new update's for the new campaine? much sounds after are broken and not more work .
After 'The Sacrifice' update, I personally did not experience any broken sound issues with the mod. I'm currently working on updating it to v1.1 to include new DLC replacements as well as some minor tweaks. There will be a vpk version of this available once this is completed.
Bilians is Brilliant addon...
Thank you!
You are most Welcome & Thank You for saying so...Enjoy!
I can't seem to get it to work properly. The gun sounds mostly work, and from what small 10 seconds worth of music that plays, it seems like the music is great, too. Unfortunately, when using this mod, 70% of the sounds are gone. Not sure what I did wrong :/
Hmm, that's a strange problem you're having. Have you tried the "snd_rebuildaudiocache" console command I mentioned in the mod's ReadMe?
Give that a go & then see if it works. If not, I'd recommend downloading it again & simply installing over what's already there, then repeating the "snd_rebuildaudiocache" console command. Hope that helps!
