• OVER-THE-TOP JOUSTING! - Countless enemies had been shot, hacked and slashed in the history of games. Now it is time to ram a wooden lance in some gut, send your foes flying, and watch them bite the dust! Body parts ripping off, ragdoll horse physics, and destructive environments included.
  • A BEAUTIFUL BRUTAL WORLD – Dive into a magical fantasy world full of treasures and adventures! Don't be fooled by the cartoony looks: here, simply bumping into a silly wooden fence spells a sudden end to your hero's life. If you fancy dying in a more heroic way, how about getting swallowed by a giant toad, falling into a lava pit, exploding from eating too much turkey, getting impaled by a Hitler Snowman, or just getting lit on fire by a dragon!
  • BUCKETLOADS OF CONTENT – Divided into three major parts - the Story Mode, the Endless Journey Mode and the Rogue Rider Mode - this game has a lot to offer and there is always something new to accomplish, find, or unlock. Power-ups, characters, view modes, mutators, quests, game mode variations, randomly generated hats, you name it! Did you ever wish to be a skeleton king with a fancy wig riding over rainbows on a flower-pooping pink unicorn? It's all up to you in this game!
  • INSPIRED BY CRASH BANDICOOT – Good third-person platformers were always hard to find on PC, when consoles sport countless shining examples: the first Crash Bandicoot titles, Spyro, Ratched & Clank, and Super Mario were all a big inspiration for Last Knight. This game kicks it up a notch with non-stop jousting action, no-health instant death, procedurally-generated worlds, as well as custom-crafted levels with Knightmare levels in-between. To top it off, the new Rogue Rider Mode pushes it all into a rogue-like direction, and if you don't like third-person view, try playing in first-person mode!

Last Knight is now on sale for 50% off (now 3.99$/2.99€) as a part of the huge Steam sale:
Store.steampowered.com

If you have it already make sure to tell your friends, your mom, your grandma and your dog. Also probably your goldfish. (Or any other pet you have)

There is also currently a update in the making which will add a tavern for the Rogue Rider Adventure mode in which you can get direction clues for the Wonders of The World:

Nobody is drunk in that tavern!

The other rides have been also tweaked and made more intelligently. They will also wear hats and more.

Where Is My Hammer

You can download Where Is My Hammer for free. I have made this small game as a part of the IndiesVSPewDiePie game jam.

Basically everything of the level can be smashed to pieces and you happen to have a hammer. What will you do?

The latest update has suddenly rendered campaign mode completely unplayable for me. I gallop forward about 10 yards and suddenly hear the death jingle and ragdoll straight through the ground. This is happening on every single stage. Squire Endless is apparently unaffected though.

As an aside, it also prompts me with the "Play Tutorial" popup every time I start the game now too, rather than the usual Play Endless / Resume Campaign buttons.

I just tried some levels in the story mode but did not encountered that bug. Had you already tried reinstalling it?

That with the "play tutorial" button is definitely a bug but you can use the menu button on the lower right there for now.

Something got messed up with the collisions initialization when you start in a forest, cave or on the graveyard in the story mode. Since it is weekend I will not be able to update the build here on Desura. At the earliest on Monday. But if you like to play the story mode before you can download the old 1.1 patch here: Lastknightthegame.com

Here is the news post about the bug: Steamcommunity.com

Same post will also go up here on IndieDB/Desura but that always takes time to get approved.

What hardware are you on? The Unreal Engine unfortunately also takes really long to load on a Mac, so it could be just that.

The Groupees setup file for this game completely messed my computer up. At the end of the installation process, the game attempted to add .net framework 4 but an error came up saying it was already installed. Then another message immediately appears saying that my computer will now restart, without any request for confirmation.

So all of my open programs close and the computer reboots. But as soon as my desktop reappears, the same two messages appear and my computer reboots AGAIN before it has even finished the previous reboot.

And over and over again. So now I'm stuck in an infinite reboot loop. I can't even boot into safe mode because the option isn't even there. The only option other than normal is "repair mode," which spends 15 minutes before telling me the problem can't be fixed and then the whole process starts again.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am using win7 pro 64-bit.

Start in Safe Mode with as few drivers as possible then try System Restore. If that fails / cannot be done, try save / back up whatever files you can and reformat.

Alright so I was able to get into safe mode finally, but now I don't know what file or program to look for to stop the loop. Neither Last Knight nor .net Framework 4 show up in my installed programs list (all that appears is framework 1.1 and a bunch of updates for framework 4.5), and I don't see anything in the msconfig startup or services list, either, or my startup folder. Where do I need to look to stop this?

I have no clue what is happening there.
What is the Groupees Setup you are talking about? You should have get just a Desura key. The installer does also not attempt to install framework 4 at the end, atleast not the one that I send to Desura. In any way there should never be a reason to restart or even automaticaly restart.

My guess is, if it is really .net framework that is forcing the restart, to just deinstall all framework that you have and then reinstall it or just install a new framework version from a different source over it. You could also try to repair framework. Right click and then repair on the different ones in your system programs list.

Thank you for replying. The setup file I used to install the game was retrieved from Groupees rather than Desura. Do the two services have different installers, to your knowledge?

I am away from my computer now but when I get back to it I will try some of your suggestions and report the results. I remember that the installer also ran a UDK setup as well - maybe that had something to do with it.

The specific error message I am getting is something like "A newer version of .net Framework 4 is already installed." Once I dismiss that message (which now appears every time Windows boots up), I immediately receive the "Your computer will log off in less than one minute" - 5 to 10 seconds later, it reboots.

As it turns out, I am unable to uninstall any versions of .net in Safe Mode ("The Windows installer service could not be accessed"). So I'm stuck again.

That is really nasty. Are you sure you have to dismiss the message when Windows has booted up? If it is just a window you should be able to ignore it and then uninstall the framework stuff without it forcing the restart.

ThreeSon Nov 7 2013, 3:18pm replied:

Unfortunately no. It looks like the shutdown process starts as soon as the window appears, regardless of whether I acknowledge it or not.

Also, I compared the two copies of the game on the Groupees server and here on Desura, and the setup files are completely identical. Are you absolutely certain that the .net Framework 4 installation is not a part of your executable file?

I posted a full write-up of the problem here: Computerhope.com

That is really very strange. When something tries to auto restart and you have programs open Windows usually asks to close them first and there you should be able to cancel the restart. Maybe you can trick it with quickly open a program first?

It could be that the framework is a part of the Unreal Engine package that gets installed after the actual game got installed. That is a standard package of the UDK that also installs stuff like directx, maybe .net framework is a part there as well. I could be that I just never saw it because it only install framework when there is none or a older version installed. Net.framework seems to be a very common thing to be already installed.

Ok, so I caught a lucky break and was able to make a new BAT file with a "shutdown /a" command in my Startup folder that halted the forced reboot and allowed me to uninstall .NET 4.5.

On the following reboot, the .NET 4.0 installation completed normally, followed by another forced restart (no confirmation requested), and then the game installation was able to finish. The final step was the UDK package installing XNA, Visual C++ and DirectX 9.0c.

Based on this experience, I would say it is very likely you will get this error report from other customers in the future. I would strongly recommend you look into fixing the UDK package in the game setup file so that it looks for current installations of .NET before trying to install 4.0, if that is even possible. I have never liked the UDK redistributable because of problem with it in the past, but they were never this serious until now.

I'm glad that you could fix it! I doubt I can change anything on that install package that UDK puts into it but maybe there is some better solution for it. Will look into it for future versions.
