• OVER-THE-TOP JOUSTING! - Countless enemies had been shot, hacked and slashed in the history of games. Now it is time to ram a wooden lance in some gut, send your foes flying, and watch them bite the dust! Body parts ripping off, ragdoll horse physics, and destructive environments included.
  • A BEAUTIFUL BRUTAL WORLD – Dive into a magical fantasy world full of treasures and adventures! Don't be fooled by the cartoony looks: here, simply bumping into a silly wooden fence spells a sudden end to your hero's life. If you fancy dying in a more heroic way, how about getting swallowed by a giant toad, falling into a lava pit, exploding from eating too much turkey, getting impaled by a Hitler Snowman, or just getting lit on fire by a dragon!
  • BUCKETLOADS OF CONTENT – Divided into three major parts - the Story Mode, the Endless Journey Mode and the Rogue Rider Mode - this game has a lot to offer and there is always something new to accomplish, find, or unlock. Power-ups, characters, view modes, mutators, quests, game mode variations, randomly generated hats, you name it! Did you ever wish to be a skeleton king with a fancy wig riding over rainbows on a flower-pooping pink unicorn? It's all up to you in this game!
  • INSPIRED BY CRASH BANDICOOT – Good third-person platformers were always hard to find on PC, when consoles sport countless shining examples: the first Crash Bandicoot titles, Spyro, Ratched & Clank, and Super Mario were all a big inspiration for Last Knight. This game kicks it up a notch with non-stop jousting action, no-health instant death, procedurally-generated worlds, as well as custom-crafted levels with Knightmare levels in-between. To top it off, the new Rogue Rider Mode pushes it all into a rogue-like direction, and if you don't like third-person view, try playing in first-person mode!

A new game mode for Christmas!

User Posted Image

I could not resist making yet another mode for X-mas. I just took the original Big X-Mas Chow Down mode and replaced "Ch" of the Chow with a "M" as a result the Big X-Mas Mow Down mode was born.

Well, it wasn't quite that easy. That new mode doesn't feature any of the extreme turkey munching nor the candy canes crunching. Instead there are lots of other rider on the winter wonderland roads. They are trying to deliver presents all over the kingdom. But as you might guessed in this kingdom nothing really ever gets delivered for rather obvious reasons. So don't feel bad about ramming them and snatching their presents! Most include giant snowballs that you can then throw at the next rider. Why are there snowballs in the presents? Because some people must have realized that their presents won't get anywhere anyway so they filled them with cheap snow instead.
But you can also find power ups, hats and some magic mutation for yourself and horse in those presents. You also still have to mow down those randomly generated snowmen of course as well as the horned bucket heads but those giant snow balls make it all a good bit easier.

The demo is currently not available on Steam because for some reason it has to be reviewed and approved separately from the game. But it can be downloaded over here:
Indiedb.com
Tocogames.itch.io
It contains the X-mas Mow Down mode the X-mas Chow Down mode.

If you never played the Big X-mas Chow Down mode before you can check it out here:

Here is the change notes list:

notes wrote:- Added X-mas mow down mode
- Tweaked extra cameras
- Tweaked other rider
- Changed extra cameras switch to page up/page down +/- (numpad)
- Fixed a rare bug with other rider destroying collisions
- Fixed x-mas music lacking stingers

Merry X-mas,
David Hagemann

Great game - I have now finished story mode, most of the quests and rebuilt the castle. Am I correct in assuming that the last two modes you unlock, including surprise surprise mode, are endless? I assume they can't be won.

Yea, in the Starve or Blow up endless you can not win. Well, you can just blow up or starve! Or die in all the other ways that you might have already encountered before. The surprise surprise mode, well is a surprise but is also endless. You can still go for completing all the quests and unlocking all the mutators, characters and power ups with upgrades though.

After playing a couple of hours, the game is a lot of fun. The Visuals are exceptional and Edouard Brenneisen's soundtrack is superb.

One issue with the music, however: During the between-level cutscenes, the constant restarting of music tracks with each panel is very jarring. There are even a few times (such as during the first meeting with the princess) when the same track that was already playing on one panel is restarted on the very next one. I'm not sure if this is intentional or a bug, but I feel it would be much better to have one track play during the entire cutscene, or maybe with just one switch to a different track when the mood of the scene calls for it.

I also wonder is it possible to include an option to lower the gravity of the physics a bit? Right now, the enemies and creatures you hit with your lance tend to fall to the ground pretty quickly; it might be cool to instead have them fly slightly up and further back into the level. This would make your lance hits feel more powerful. Just a idea.

A couple of questions:
- Is there only one possible point value you can get for defeating each enemy, or do you get bonus points for the times you manage to behead them or get a "home run" or other such events?
- Is there any penalty when you get too close and "graze" objects in the level, like rocks and tree stumps?

That with the music in the cutscenes should just fit to the looping partial animation of the 3d "pictures" and the music should support kinda over the top what is currently happening in a picture/scene. Well, I guess I should make the music not restart on a "picture" when it is the same music bit, will see what could be done to make it less jarring. You could also turn off the music in the options though.

It seems you don't know that when you keep the lance down, after you jousted a enemy, there is a bit of slomo. There is also a extra slomo effect when having joust a Bucket with much force (Smashing). The more you hit in the center and the more early you get your lance down the better the enemies will fly.
You get bonus points, for Beheading, Smashing and Homerun. Beheading + Smashing is = Smashtastic
There is no penalty at all for scratching obstacles, it keeps being arcadeish but since it is fun to scratch obstacles on purpose there is a scratches insurance that you can unlock, then you will get gold for scratches and can even make combos. Insurance takes 30 percent of your other gold though.

Ok. I really like the music so I don't want to turn it off - it's just the issue with the cutscenes. Maybe I'll get used to it after a while.

Thank you for the lancing tips. That is exactly the information I was looking for.

The latest update has suddenly rendered campaign mode completely unplayable for me. I gallop forward about 10 yards and suddenly hear the death jingle and ragdoll straight through the ground. This is happening on every single stage. Squire Endless is apparently unaffected though.

As an aside, it also prompts me with the "Play Tutorial" popup every time I start the game now too, rather than the usual Play Endless / Resume Campaign buttons.

I just tried some levels in the story mode but did not encountered that bug. Had you already tried reinstalling it?

That with the "play tutorial" button is definitely a bug but you can use the menu button on the lower right there for now.

Something got messed up with the collisions initialization when you start in a forest, cave or on the graveyard in the story mode. Since it is weekend I will not be able to update the build here on Desura. At the earliest on Monday. But if you like to play the story mode before you can download the old 1.1 patch here: Lastknightthegame.com

Here is the news post about the bug: Steamcommunity.com

Same post will also go up here on IndieDB/Desura but that always takes time to get approved.
