The goal of the game is to build castles and watch your enemies crumble.

KAG was coded and designed by Michal 'MM' Marcinkowski creator of the online 2D action classic Soldat. Co-designing and painting all the pixel graphics is Max 'Geti' Cahill from games. Additional development by Tom 'Shadlington' Robinson and Ryan 'FliesLikeABrick Rawdon. Music is being composed by David Pencil composer of Penny Arcade. It was started in 2011 after being inspired by Soldat, Minecraft, King Arthur's World for the SNES and Ace Of Spades.

Quite a few things, all of them somewhat minor but definitely worth mentioning:

  • Added 3 new heads
    Diving helmet, Horse head, Alchemist head
  • KAGGen generator functionality has been expanded with configurable caves and (simple) ruins.
  • Sandbox mode has been re-added due to popular demand.
  • (hopefully) Fixed the annoying buzzing sound on Mac and Linux
  • Fixed WASD equivalents not working on AZERTY etc keyboards (should now listen for keybinds not the actual key)
  • Fixed the flagbase not being tagged invincible - may have been causing it to die.
  • (Re)Added the player light radius and config vars for it.
  • Rebalanced coin costs.
  • Made the warboat lightly more resilient
  • Kegs are no longer able to be killed by teammates - no more accidental detonation by a teammate trying to slash the guys ahead of you! The explosion is still indiscriminate though.
  • Improved chicken farming - can buy eggs from quarters/inn and can farm them in a smaller radius than before
  • A few crash bugs fixed

[fixed] moving spectator camera uses keybinds for move left right up down instead of hardcoded WASD
[modified] floating islands now "allowed" at map design time
[added] sandbox uses default png loader
[modified] warboat has +50% hp
[added] 3 new heads - horse head, diving helmet, alchemist head
[added] JTF_FirstBadlands map
[added] undercooked egg to quarters for 30c
[modified] chicken breeding parameters a little

Really? Make sure you send at least one error report so we get some idea of what's going wrong!

If you have time, try going to wherever you installed it (C:\KAG by default on windows I think) and then going to the App folder and deleting version.txt, that'll make it patch everything again.

Bought it on Desura, then discovered it was available on your website, uff that makes me sad, would have bought it from there so you'd get more money from it, I suppose.

Oh well, got my premium, don't know where the real difference is as of now, but the game is cool, really cool, classes play truly differently and I love the simpleness of it all, how it's hard to abuse the system.

Heh, not a huge deal :) We can't really say on Desura "hey everyone come buy it on our site" as they've been generous enough to offer us a place here so it's not immediately obvious that you can buy direct.

At the moment there aren't gameplay differences between paid and free, but they're en-route. You _can_ use the multiplayer map editor though :)

Yes of course, I believe that putting the game on a service as this still gets you more sales than just doing it direct, it's just that I usually buy direct but this time it slipped my mind :c

You're correct on the siege workshop and tower, premium only. We're not sure whether we want to separate all the animals to premium or not, we'll play it by ear there but don't want to promise them for free at this point.

I would have to say the sidescrolling shoot em up has always been a favorite of mine, but I am loving the medievil theme, so far my favorite class is the archer (the arrow mechanics are awesome) , Next I want to practice my knight skills, will save builder for last because I see the hate that beginner builders can catch lol..

Anyway, I was wondering if someone could tell me, are the free players seperated from buying players? Because so far the population is kind of dissapointing, but before I made a judgement based on that effecting if I purchase or not, I thought I would ask. Because 50ish players online seems extremely low for a game receiving such traffic and attention..

Players are not separated.
The game is out only 3 months. There hasn't been any proper promotion other than here on Desura and ModDB. We are still at the beginning of the road. Also, it depends on time of day, sometimes its 150 players.

There are paid only servers (not sure if they're online at the moment) but mostly paid players just play with the general population. The number of players online varies from 50-140 constantly so perhaps try playing at a different time.

This is just a damn nice multiplayer game!
Of course a lot can still be added, but at the moment it is just great.

Keep adding stuff, and people will continue to play, because of the possibilities, team work and nice game play.
