Kill Fun Yeah is an online 2D platform shooter. Murder and capture your way to the top, using an ever increasing arsenal of silly weaponry and items, the powers of deflect, attract and freeze, as well as various powerups. Make your own maps, using custom made tilesets and background sprites and create your own custom player skin to make you stand out on the battlefield. The game is free to try for 3 hours with a few limitations, which, along with the time limit, are removed upon purchasing the full version.

Some of what is new in this release:

  • Added ability to spectate matches (accessible from the scoreboard).
  • Added visual indicator for when a player is typing.
  • Changed reload speed and stun duration for Zapper.
  • Changed so that deflect explosions do no damage but have increased force and radius.
  • Changed x-position for where billy rockets spawn.
  • Fixed full screen effects that were problematic on some GPUs.
  • Fixed a problem related to blood pixels making tiles flicker with OSX + Intel GPU.
  • Fixed a minor particle system memory leak.
  • Fixed a bug that would make it impossible to play certain music tracks at below 20% volume.

Even though $25.00 seems like alot for an indie game, this looks awesome. Only question is: Singleplayer mode with story?

While I wouldn't count it out, single player modes are not something planned for the near future. As for the price it's very hard to predict what a reasonable price for the finished product will be as we are still very far from considering it finished, and were we ever to charge that much for it then the game would at that point would be so much more rich in content than the Alpha that is currently avaliable.

I don't want to be a troll here but I downloaded the demo, made an account and went to join a server. There were only 3 servers( one of which was premium) and they all had 0 people playing in them. I joined one and it lagged a lot. So I'm taking this game doesn't have a big community?

You are absolutely right about that the community is still of a very modest size, but we are currently making efforts to bring in more new players in the near future.
Most servers that are usually avaliable (as well as most of the community at large) are based in Europe, so until there are more people in other parts of the world willing to host servers you may have problems finding a game with acceptable latency if you are not located in Europe.

Even if you think the game is expensive, you can play the alpha version for FREE, it's definitely worth the sign-up.
To make sure you enjoy the game, take some time to get used to the controls, and meet some of the players in the game.

Remember the game is still in alpha testing, so a lot more will be fixed, changed, and added.
Also, those of you complaining about a lack of offline mode, this is an online game, and Arctic Anteater have said that they would have an offline mode in some form or other, at a later date.

So in other words try the game, see what it's like, and if you like it, why not stay and follow the development of the game?

Yeah, with this price point it kind of misses my impulse buy mark by a bit there...

The game seems kind of fun but the price and no SP (bots of any sort) is going to make it a no buy for me.
And I really don't think that a lot of people would buy it for $25.99, $13 is already a bit of a stretch.

It's a fantastic game!
I've had little problems with Kill Fun Yeah, and can't wait to see what the next updates are going to be like, if you haven't already you should definitely check it out.
Also the price isn't that expensive, I've paid a lot more for other games, and I've played those games a lot less.

Captcha takes 10 tries to make it work. Most are completely unreadable.
Need numbers and letters in the password too.
This security ******** needs to end. You are not a Bank or credit card company. The page is complete overkill.

I cant sign in , then you don't get any money.

That is 10 minutes of my life i will never get back.

Why not just link to my Desura account for verifycation?

I didn't find registering painful at all and I was able to connect to the lobby but I was not able to connect to any of the three game servers. Also only one game server had people in it.
Of course the game is in supher early alpha so I'm holding back any judgement but I deffinetly think bots and the option to player single player are required.

Edit: Actually I just tried again and I was getting disconnected from master server.
Also I doubt it fully but any chance of local co-op or controller support?

There shouldn't be any problems with getting disconnected spontaneously from the master server with the current client executable.
Make sure that you patch your game to the latest version by running it with the launcher rather than launching the client software directly.

JLar May 22 2012 replied:

Hmm that's strange. Haven't heard of anyone else having such problems with the last patch. So you are unable to connect to any of the servers? And you also have problems with getting disconnected from the master server while in the lobby? What kind of messages, if any, do you get? And what does the ping indicators for the servers look like?

PenultimatePanda May 23 2012 replied:

The error message is: ERROR: ID_MOUSE_COORDS: Uknown player.
I took a screen shot where on the fourm is the best place to upload it because I know Desura isn't really the right place.

JLar May 24 2012 replied:

If you get that message I'm pretty sure that you don't have the latest client executable. Make sure that you run the game with the launcher (KFY.exe) or manually run KFY_Patcher.exe. It could possibly be the Windows Firewall that is blocking the patcher app or something like that. Do you get any error messages if you run the patcher app manually?
