A free-roaming squad based RPG. Focusing on open-ended gameplay features rather than a linear story. Be a trader, a thief, a rebel, a mercenary, a business owner, a doctor, a bandit... the list goes on. Aid or oppose the various factions in the world while striving for the strength and wealth necessary to simply survive in the harsh desert. Purchase and upgrade your own buildings to use as safe fortified havens when things go bad, or use them to start up a business. Train your men up from puny victims to master warriors. Carry your wounded squad mates to safety and get them all home alive. Read More...

Every vote counts and may win you a game on Steam!

Note that as it's such a big update, lots of bugs and instabilities are likely until I can get through all the bug-reports. The Stable Build of the game I will leave as it is until the new world map is ready.

    • Huge optimisation that uses more multi-threading for the game code and AI, improving performance significantly when there are a lot of characters around.
    • AI War Campaigns, NPC factions can now launch proper missions. This is similar to the faction assaults feature that was around in an older version, except the difference is it's now a fully dynamic system. If assaults are coming repeatedly they can be stopped by decimating that faction's base of operations.
    • Towns and nests can now be wiped out.
    • Random bandit camps, allowing the bandit factions (among others) to have a population source, which can therefore regenerate, run low, or be wiped out.
    • Races now have different bonuses and penalties to certain stats
    • Render optimisation for the lights, it appears they were slowing things down a lot
    • Bars now have a variety of random goons who all sit together: mercenary groups, thieves (with fences to sell stuff to), bounty hunters colorisation maps added to faction armours
    • AI squads now move in formation
    • You can now buy and sell slaves
    • You can now pay the bounty on a character to get him out of prison

    • Made our own game launcher (old one was a default part of Ogre engine), which hopefully fixes some of the config problems people had with DX11
    • Fixed the shortage of nests
    • Fixed being unable to use beds and cages
    • Fixed the overpopulation of the slaver camp
    • Fixed some more pathfinding/collision bugs
    • Fixed a ragdoll display bug

Note: This is available on opt-in Steam experimental only

Are you going to keep on using your current UI system right now for the release, or are you going to change it? Not that I have a problem with the one your using right now, but I just seems a bit dull, maybe a change of color from the usual gray?

I don't like it either, it will have to wait till I can hire an artist. Its skin-able though, for any modders who want to change it.

Are you going to have your first release cost money?
It would be nice if we can see how it is with the concept and stuff,
I'd like a little assurance before I buy.
But I will probably buy it either way.
Love the concept and keep up the great work.

Wow, stunning concept. I hope you get the time and will to pull through with this effort because I would play this right away. I love the idea of being both a tactical squad leader as well as building up my own little empire.

Around august I will make the first alpha release. The game will not be finished, but will be up for sale from that point onwards (starting off cheap) in order to raise money for development.

well, i certainly hope you will make backwardscompatible graphic options. i hate when every new game needs directX11 and wont be adjustable to work on dx9 which is absolutely sufficient.
well, great graphics are cool, but its stupid to just force people to buy a new PC every year.
also great graphic effects cant compromise on bad gameplay anyway.

Highest Rated (82 agree) 10/10

Kenshi is a very ambitious game, it is as of the moment I'm writing this in a very unfinished state, but it's fun to play and it looks like with more love and care, this will be an absolutely great game.

Therefore I'm voting this a 10, I also bought the game to support the (currently) only developer working on it.

Despite the crashes, the content the game has now, made by only a single developer is very impressive in my opinion.

Thumbs up :)

Lowest Rated (9 agree) 4/10

In it's current state, it deserves a one.

But because it's being updated and because its from one dude, it deserves a 4.

When its finally released, hopefully it will be worth a 10.
I don't see why people are just spamming 10 on this, lets be honest. in its current state, it is pretty sh*t. But we can all agree it WILL turn out great. (Don't hate me for the low rate, i'll re-review it with a high score as the game is being made. Or when its finished.)
