KarBOOM 1.1 is done!

Indie car-combat party game KarBOOM has finally been updated, boasting new improvements as well as a bunch of bug fixes.

At the request of fans, the player limit has been increased from 8 to 12 players, with up to 8 controllers (XBox 360, PS3/4, Wiimote, Logitech, whatever works with the player's OS) plus 4 players on keyboards.

AI has been significantly improved, and new difficulties have been added to ease players into the game, as well as to give more experienced players or teams of players a greater challenge.

3 new skins are available as well, and players can pick the same colour to form teams in Showdown and Klassic modes. With 8 different skins, this means up to 8 players on a single team, though that'd likely make for a one-sided game given the 12-player cap.

Since you're going cross-platform, any plans for a Android/Ouya release?

Hi! I do hope to release it on Ouya, but that'll be later on - for now my first priority is finishing it for PC, Linux & Mac. I also need to get my hands on an Ouya :P

Android in general is less likely. It's a local multiplayer game, and as far as I can tell, decent controls for two or more players on a tablet or smartphone isn't viable - at least not while letting players do everything they're supposed to be able to do in KarBOOM.

I mostly thought about Android because of the various no-name Ouya-like android stick devices like the MK808 and uHost 2 and Dell's upcoming Ophelia that are becoming popular as emulators. That's a pretty fringe platform though.

Ah yes. It could make sense to have a generic Android version when doing the Ouya version as well - fringe platforms tend to have communities that all know what everyone's playing, and that could make the port worth it for KarBOOM.

Please consider porting it to the PlayJam GameStick as well! I've heard porting to GameStick from OUYA is dead easy. =]

Hi! Sorry for the late reply!

There have been a lot of requests for a racing game mode. I have higher priorities at this stage, but I will experiment with such a mode.
