Jake is a small kid who was touring an ancient temple with his family. Problem is, he's a curious kid and it didn't help that he got a free treasure map from a shady merchant on the street. He finds out how to get into the temple, and this is where the trouble starts.

Post news Report RSS Jake sees his first level!

Jake can finally walk both directions. Also, we got our first random level along with coins working.

Quick update on JSG (Jake Strikes Gold)!

We've got our first random level generated, kudos to Dan for getting this done:

Now to the details of what we had to go through.

Changing the direction on player sprites turned out to be relatively simple, although it took me a while to figure it out.

Dan had to randomly create and store objects in a table then use a timer to fire them off upwards. There was some trouble with the physics as we had to figure out why the blocks kept vibrating (turns out we can't set it to a dynamic body, it has to be kinematic...to this day we are unsure what the exact difference is but it works!). Then I inserted a few lines to spawn the coins without adding it to the physics engine. Sooner or later I'll have to add in collision so Jake can stash it in his chest...but until then:
