Maybe he could use this gask mask to diguise as a enemy , but if he would wear it for too long he would start running out of air and slowly loose HP.
Yeah, because everyone knows gasmasks make breathing IMPOSSIBLE. It's definitely not what they were created for.

I'd laugh if i wasn't so dumbfounded...
You do realise, right, that the mask filters air so you can breathe safely? If the filter ***** up and you're still in a contaminated you're in deep trouble, but if it happens in clean air, you'd just keep breathing. There's no risk at all of suffocation unless you decided to vacuum-seal the air inlet, and you'd have to be suicidal to do that anyway.
It's actually used to access the areas affect by Anthrax spores

Hmm, won't you still be contaminated once you leave those areas though, since the spores cling to clothes?
I hope you'll provide a decontamination shower once you've passed those areas (Unless of course you wear that all the time). And yeah, I hope for the protagonists sake that he's wearing more protective clothing and not just the mask.
As for possible anthrax infection due to them getting in wounds (Like those suffered from gunshots), I think that can and should be ignored for the sake of gameplay.
Btw, I bought one of those masks not long ago. Or well, the Civilian variant anyway, the GP-5 gasmask.

Would this also prevent (if these gameplay elements will be in ivans secrets)things like flashbangs because of the protective lenses like the ones used in the sas gasmasks or will it prevent tear/poison gas from affecting you? would this allow you to enter areas with high radiation levels? even if not this is still an awesome idea for an awesome mod.
A standard gas mask like this does not protect against flashbangs or radiation (except you won't breath in irradiated particles). It's perfect against tear gas and some simple resperatory poison gases like mustard gas but it's useless against modern war gas, if you don't cover up your whole body and use the correct filter.
Fun fact is that so many morons kill themselves with this kind of mask when entering areas filled with carbon mono-/dioxide because it obviously doesn't make up for the absence of oxygen...
