Island Hopping Version 1.2: No-Installer Edition
May 17, 2010 Full Version 1 commentVersion 1.2 of Island Hopping introduces a number of bug fixes, adjustments, and new features over the original Ludum Dare release (original version still...
Island Hopping is a 3d retro-arcade style platformer originally developed by one of our team members for the Ludum Dare 48-hour competition. The objective is simple: don't hit the water. The player will attempt to navigate through an ever faster path of island that vary in size, shape, and point value. When they inevitably hit the water, your distance and score (among other statistics) are sent to a high score leaderboard.

Aaaaaand we're back!
The reaction to the 1.2 release was awesome, thanks to everyone who tried it! Here are some stats from the online leaderboard:
So school is over and we can finally get back to work on a new version. This will be a complete rewrite, so it should be a lot more flexible and have a lot fewer little glitches and issues now that we're no longer working off the original (very disorderly) 48 hour code.
We'll be using a custom engine that's been an on and off project for a number of months, and though I won't bore you with the details, it should be a lot easier to work with and allow for a lot more cool stuff.
We've been going over the feedback and comments and we're considering everything; some possible features (it's a bit early to tell exactly how this will all fit together, and this is just off the top of my head) include:
It shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks to get a new release out (after all, the game was originally created in <48 hours), and we'll be posting updates pretty regularly during the development, so stay tuned.
We've also got a couple of other projects that we'll be working on over the summer, so keep a look out for those as well.

This game is really fun. Its idea is good and the gameplay is great. The game is also very addictive.

yeh this games really kool im in the hiscores!
You should try to make a multiplayer mode, nothing special I'd just think it would be cool too see other people try, succeed, and fail all around me. :D
That would be cool indeed, too bad I know nothing about multiplayer stuff... something like that in a later version might be a good opportunity to learn though.
"how... pretentious" (+ x2 + x4 = OMFG LOL POINTS? WTF!)
also... twilight? wtf seriously whats up whit some of these things...
and i want my 42 hours! >:(
Those random bonuses are easter eggs related to the 48 hour game competition this was made for... this game wasn't originally planned to be released to anyone more than the other people participating in the compo, so those probably won't make much sense to most people...
Impressive. Damn I was never good at bunny hopping in other games. Hope this will teach me how to do it right. :)
This is a cool idea, why do you hate it so much?
this game is awesome !!
