What would you do for freedom? In Iron Grip: Warlord, the nomadic civilization of Atelia is being swallowed by the massive Confederation. It's a hopeless and tiresome battle; for every enemy Confederate that falls, five more takes their place. Outnumbered and forced to retreat into the heart of cities, a full-out urban warfare has begun that the Atelians will surely lose. As the vestiges of your world crumble and your morale sinks, the only hope for the future is you and your fellow warlords. This is your last stand. This is your freedom. This is your game.

Iron Grip: Warlords being based on the id Tech 3 engine I expected very fast paced gameplay and it delivers with good bunnyhopping movements and quick tower/mg placements to rocket jumping over buildings to get to that Officer creeping the enemy morale up.
Warlords is a little different other shooters in the way they mixed it up by adding a RTS feature during gameplay. During RTS mode the game becomes like a Tower defence game in the birdseye point of view and you can build Medic stations, Traps, Mgs and other things to help you become victorious.
Visually speaking Warlords looks pretty good for a itech 3 based game and the fire/smoke effects are well done which amazed me. The Maps are nicely done complimented by the mazey design like that of Tower defense games. The Steampunk theme of the universe in warlords is excellent from the guns to the airships which fly above really making it feel like a steampunk world.
One of Warlords merits comes in the weapon and upgrade system, buying weapons, Health , increased speed and regeneration upgrades on the fly anytime from anywhere on the map. This adds some depth in terms of being able to change from the long range sniper to taking out tanks or maybe get up and close with the shotgun and flamethrower or maybe just buy all the upgrades and take everything on by your self!
One of the cons would be the games really easy once you got it worked out. After awhile of gametime and learning the maps even the hardest difficulty cant keep you down.
Keeping this short although while Iron Grip: Warlords is not the most compelling shooter around it does provide great fun for its low price and is in fact a hidden gem at lan parties.
