Welcome to your ultimate nightmare:

"You`re Peter "Pete" O`Brannon, a Private Eye. Sounds faszinating? It isn`t, trust me - unless you find it exciting to hunt down cheating husbands and lost dogs while living of cheap Chinese food in shabby motels. THAT would be what Petes job is all about - but luckily for him, he has a good customer paying his bills. It`s GlobalSecure Inc., one of the biggest insurance companies on the East Coast. More exactely, it`s Samantha "Sam" Miller who runs their investigation departement on insurance fraud. She`s tough, she`s intelligent, she`s better than Pete. By far better. But due to the companies Code of Conduct and some very nasty ethic rules, she`s prevented from taking, erm, "semi-legal" steps to gain essential information and proofs. That`s where Pete steps in - for 500 bucks per day + expenses + a nice 20% share of the money the company saves with whatever Pete finds out.

Into the Dark is a playable B-Movie, a trash Experience composed out of 60% humour, 30% horror and 10% technical flaws. Enjoy!

This game is based upon the winning entry of the scariest game competition on TGC:

The first release on Gamersgate and as boxed retail product was 30th of October 2012, the official Desura Release in April 2013

ITD will be released on Steam SOON.
We have Oculus Rift support.

And we have improved the game in many ways!

Let´s get to the points:

1. Steam Release:

No exact date yet, but we aim for end of April. And no, we are not talking about an entry on Greenlight, we are talking about a full scale release including Steam Achievements like "Still on top of the food chain!" and "Springtime for Hitler and Germany... ...Winter for Poland and France!".

2. Oculus Rift:

Yes, you can explore the levels in immerse VR 3D. It is as great as it may sound now, however, getting into firefights is not recommended. Testers have vomited more than once.

3. New Textures:

We would like to thank all journalists (and common players) who praised the quality of our textures in their review. However, many of them were NOT what we consider high quality, and due to lazyness we had several texture tiles created by mirroring. Those insults to artists eyes are now gone.

4. Intelligent Motion Blur:

I admit: I personally HATE motion blur in games, especially in those where you don´t run around like a jackrabbit on speed. However, we wanted to reflect the behavior of real eyes as good as possible. Therefore we blur only very subtle on fast head movements through the scene. In addition to that, we have now a realistic blur on objects that move fast and close to the player. hard to show that on screenshots, but take a look at the hands...

5. Improved surface shaders:

The new shader system used for surfaces take the material more into account than previous ones. Example: Rotten wood is normal mapped to reflect the structure, but it´s NOT getting glossy - because, you know, it´s rotten wood. Metallic objects, plastic and polished marble surfaces get glossy in varying degrees.

6. New splashscreen:

Finally an honest tagline beneath a company logo.

What else?

Well, hundreds of bugfixes, new scripts, new videos, new sounds, re-recorded voice overs...
...and all improvements will be patched into the Desura Version afterwards! (Except the Steam achievements, of course...)

hi, to the dev, i bought the game , this has good graphics and atmosphear but there are some things i don't like at all:
1)UI and mian menu are simply orrible..this need a lot of work and i hope you can do this. Add option to map controls pls...it's absurd i have to press enter to have action, crouch on C is absurd too.Add remap keys and other option asap!
2) i played only a bit..audio is great, but it's to much dark for my taste. and no option to gamma or something else..a flashlight maybe?
3) let the movment a bit more natural

btw i will enjoy this game but only with at least key remap and gamma options

and why not add an option to a separate download for whom already have seen the Movie?

1. Sir, I beg to differ! The style of the UI and Main Manu are PERFECT and LOVELY for our TRASH experience. Especially with Adolf and the tentacles! ;)

2. You can remap the keys to your taste in the setup.ini

3. Well, this sounds like you are playing on a TV or on a monitor with sime boogey "Super Contrast Prozessor". However: In your scriptfolder, you have a pitchzero.fpi and pitchdark.fpi. SImply open it in Notepad and type in whatever ambience value you want!

What is the song playing in the video? I recognize it from the show Noir.

The "song" is actually the background ambience and music from the Cinema Level. It´s mixed out of many sound / music layers, but I will ask the sound artist what the tune was.

It´s rather cheap. Everyone coming up with some sprites hoovering around or a 15-minutes-jumpscare ride charge 1 to 4 dollars, here we have a 10 hours campaign game and 2 hours movies.
Reality check?!

I work myself with Unity Pro 4.1, but this game has by far more knowledge and dedication inside than many Unity productions I know. It´s not about the engine, it´s about the heartblood you put into it, and they definately put more than the average Indie Dev.

I would have prefered giving Feedback to the developers on their page, but the games installer points to IndieDB, so it`s gonna be somehow public: Although I`m pretty proud that this one is from Austria, obviously not far from here, I`ll stick to facts and spare the patriotism influence. I bought this game because of the report on Austrian TV, so I knew what I had to expect - Trash, Zombies, B-Movie-Style. I love that, so I gave it a try. And the game delivers exactly what it promises: Trash, B-Movie…
