Welcome to your ultimate nightmare:

"You`re Peter "Pete" O`Brannon, a Private Eye. Sounds faszinating? It isn`t, trust me - unless you find it exciting to hunt down cheating husbands and lost dogs while living of cheap Chinese food in shabby motels. THAT would be what Petes job is all about - but luckily for him, he has a good customer paying his bills. It`s GlobalSecure Inc., one of the biggest insurance companies on the East Coast. More exactely, it`s Samantha "Sam" Miller who runs their investigation departement on insurance fraud. She`s tough, she`s intelligent, she`s better than Pete. By far better. But due to the companies Code of Conduct and some very nasty ethic rules, she`s prevented from taking, erm, "semi-legal" steps to gain essential information and proofs. That`s where Pete steps in - for 500 bucks per day + expenses + a nice 20% share of the money the company saves with whatever Pete finds out.

Into the Dark is a playable B-Movie, a trash Experience composed out of 60% humour, 30% horror and 10% technical flaws. Enjoy!

100% gaming insanity, death of millions of poor Paypal accounts and wallets, and the time of the year when gamers have a perfect excuse to be exhausted and fall asleep at work: The Steam Summer Sale is really a crazy event, comparable to the black Friday (or fleeing from a horde of mutants).

But it´s the first year that we from Homegrown Games participate, so it´s entirely new to us.  And we have really gone low with our prime rib game "Into the Dark" for that one.

Now you can become Yog-Sothoths Puppetmaster, Hentai-proof and Schrödingers cat expert for less than $6!

However, you don´t have to buy if you own the game already on Desura:

We are handing out free steam keys to people who have bought the game on Desura on request. People who have bought the game via one of the bundle promotions are NOT entitled to claim a free steam key, however, on a case-to-case base, we may still give you a press key. Contact us for details here via PM.

We have uploaded a first UNIFIED version into the Desura Client version here. So if you run Into the Dark via client installation, it should already have performed a major update. The first testruns were promising, however, we cannot guarantee that it will work flawless, please report all bugs into our IndieDB Forums. The unified version is the same like the steam version except some ragdolling routines and the Steam achievements (of course).

  •  Irwin ragdolls more beautifully when shot on Steam. (but why would you shoot him?!)

So, to cut it short: If you already own the game, we thank you very much for your support. If not, use the madness of Steams Summer Sale to get it for as low as € / $ 5.99 !

No, not yet. The engine is basically not portable, but a spinoff with another engine could be an idea.

This looks good but why the crappy FPSCreator, and not Cryengine or UDK???

Ok, my answer was a little bit short, but I had been on the phone calling a partner. However:

The fpi scripting power is incredible. Basically you can roll out the whole game logic from FPS to Full-Scale-RPG with Notepad.
On the other hand you can apply extremely detailled lightmapping in the smaller environments. As long as you have really good 3d and 2d assets at hand, you`re technically competitable and more flexible with FPSC.

UDK and Cry 3 have a top-notch renderer, no doubt about that, and the physics calculation is lightyears ahead of FPSC. But when it comes to the Art pipeline, you need 3 times the manpower compared to FPSC.

I have developed games on Cry 3 and UDK. For indoor horror small environments and a slow paced game, the latest 1.19 FPSC beats both of them.

Very deserved. This is truly the best FPSC game I have ever seen. That is not a slight either! It shows a great deal of skill and talent!!

This game will stand up to any game on other engines as far as I'm concerned.

I would have prefered giving Feedback to the developers on their page, but the games installer points to IndieDB, so it`s gonna be somehow public: Although I`m pretty proud that this one is from Austria, obviously not far from here, I`ll stick to facts and spare the patriotism influence. I bought this game because of the report on Austrian TV, so I knew what I had to expect - Trash, Zombies, B-Movie-Style. I love that, so I gave it a try. And the game delivers exactly what it promises: Trash, B-Movie…
