Infinity is an open-ended game in which you control a spaceship throughought the entire galaxy, trying to make a name for yourself. You connect to an online server on which thousands of people are playing, 24/7. The game does not stop when you log off, but continues to evolve: it is a persistent universe. The game mechanics do not emphasize any particular gameplay style. Combat, trade, exploration, social relationships.. you are free to choose your own carrier path and goals. The only limit is your own imagination!
Infinity is not a traditional role playing game. Although all players are expected to act in concordance with their avatar's motivations, there are no classes or skills to restrict your choices. Combat between spaceships is in true real-time, and the outcome is determined by your own intelligence and reflexes. Forget turn-based action and experience the great excitement of a first person experience!
Using procedural techniques, the game universe has been designed to be huge and realistic. There are billions of solar systems and planets, each unique and awaiting to be discovered by a player. Coherent scales and distances are used, orbits of celestial bodies are correctly modeled and change continuously, allowing you to attend a sunrise on the moon of a giant planet, for instance.

Technically, it's not so hard. After all, all you need to do is to create two windows, one on each screen ( in case of a dual screen setup ), to create two cameras, and to render the scene twice. Of course, you get a 2 times slow-down ( or 3 times in case of a triple config ).
Fortunately, InfinityAdmin took a different approach. He still created 2 windows, but used the engine's pipeline to create one virtual off-screen buffer. The scene only has to be rendered once. Much better! Then in the final stage, the buffer is shared and split between the windows.
The results are pretty cool, and if properly set up, the images are perfectly seamless. For example, consider this one, taken on a dual monitor config, each screen being full-screen 1280x1024:
Nothing forces the windows to get perfectly aligned or to "touch", and they can even be of different resolutions ( meaning that it'll work perfectly even if your monitors have different resolutions ).
You need to have Flash and Javascript running in your browser to see this player.

This is a new working version of the Infinity combat prototype version 2.1. Apologies to all of those that downloaded the corrupt file.

High-end PCs will be required. At least, seen from todays standarts...
Another question - if Id decide to draw some concepts for Infinity: What exactly could you need, what would I have to pay attention to and would you find a use for those concepts at all?
Thanks for you interest in contributing, please check out the contribution section on the Infinity forums. The 'stikies' should provide you with all the information you need, if they don't answer your questions don't hesitate to post them on the forum ;)

Well all those who fear they won't be able to play can relax with ATI Radeon 4850 and 4870 getting a high end card is possible for almost everyone even now. and by the time game comes out i guess everyone will be bale to afford one of those. So Ati kinda saved all of us budget guys out there.
