Infinity is an open-ended game in which you control a spaceship throughought the entire galaxy, trying to make a name for yourself. You connect to an online server on which thousands of people are playing, 24/7. The game does not stop when you log off, but continues to evolve: it is a persistent universe. The game mechanics do not emphasize any particular gameplay style. Combat, trade, exploration, social relationships.. you are free to choose your own carrier path and goals. The only limit is your own imagination!
Infinity is not a traditional role playing game. Although all players are expected to act in concordance with their avatar's motivations, there are no classes or skills to restrict your choices. Combat between spaceships is in true real-time, and the outcome is determined by your own intelligence and reflexes. Forget turn-based action and experience the great excitement of a first person experience!
Using procedural techniques, the game universe has been designed to be huge and realistic. There are billions of solar systems and planets, each unique and awaiting to be discovered by a player. Coherent scales and distances are used, orbits of celestial bodies are correctly modeled and change continuously, allowing you to attend a sunrise on the moon of a giant planet, for instance.

i remember these space games from amiga and windows 98 discettes and stuff. where you get an object to do, but you can do lotsa other things and your main goal is to for example save earth from evil aliens (the ur-quan masters). and i belive youre heavily inspired by these games? where you build up your fleet upgrade your ship and go mina a planet and then go into battle with some alien and then free a rebel base and such?
Well, I will be submitting the links and game info to Gamespot once I am finished school for the day. They will most likely be putting it on their site so I will be looking out for it and tell you when it is on :)
It looks to good to be true :)
Its awsome work guys, keep it up and I promise that I'll wait for it... even if it takes two years.
Its gotta be worth it thumbup:thumbup:
Yes thats all possible :)
An awesome looking one at that, the video is much better than a couple of screenies, its looking great!
Oh similar to eldar scrolls 5 aha that seems good but whats going to be on the planets and can you possibly build a station or a base? possibly wage war against others or mine minerals or resources :D
Is that an exageration? unless you plan to have 100 billion frighteningly similar looking planets (or a bunch or neutral martian wastelands) i dont see how you can achive THAT goal.
Some EVE-online fans say its rip-off but if you look at it like that everything is a rip-off. EVE-online is based on a lot of other games like Frontier and Elite. You can call HL2 rip-off because it is a FPS with aliens. You can cal DOD rip-off because we have a lot of other WW2 shooters.
Infinity and EVE-online are from the same game genre and has some basic gameplay elements, but thats where the compairison ends. You probably didn't read the Infinity discription on this page or on the site, because if you did you wouldnt say it sounds exactly like EVE-online. Does EVE-online have 100 billion unique planets, real-time landing on planets, newtonian physics, realistic scale and sizes, real-time fighting, next-gen graphics,... ?
We just want to take space sims to the next generation!
Sounds exactly like EVE Online (www.eve-online.com).
