Infinity is an open-ended game in which you control a spaceship throughought the entire galaxy, trying to make a name for yourself. You connect to an online server on which thousands of people are playing, 24/7. The game does not stop when you log off, but continues to evolve: it is a persistent universe. The game mechanics do not emphasize any particular gameplay style. Combat, trade, exploration, social relationships.. you are free to choose your own carrier path and goals. The only limit is your own imagination!

Infinity is not a traditional role playing game. Although all players are expected to act in concordance with their avatar's motivations, there are no classes or skills to restrict your choices. Combat between spaceships is in true real-time, and the outcome is determined by your own intelligence and reflexes. Forget turn-based action and experience the great excitement of a first person experience!

Using procedural techniques, the game universe has been designed to be huge and realistic. There are billions of solar systems and planets, each unique and awaiting to be discovered by a player. Coherent scales and distances are used, orbits of celestial bodies are correctly modeled and change continuously, allowing you to attend a sunrise on the moon of a giant planet, for instance.

Flavien Brebion (aka InfinityAdmin) has been working hard on finishing the terrain engine the last couple of months. We are now at a point that we are ready to show the results of all that hard work. We still have a lot of things to do before its finished so keep in mind that this is all work-in-progress.

On the to-do-list:
- coriolis effect for clouds
- storm effect
- clouds have patterns
- terrain too blue
- over saturation to white
- areas too sharp / contrasted
- terrain only based on altitude / too randomized
- jagged / aliased shadows
- lack of bloom
- only one type of clouds

Enough talk, here are the screenshots of the terrain engine with terrain texturing, god rays, vegetation ( not procedural) and a lot of other new features:

Sorry for the lack of anti-aliasing.

Small update:

The new website has been a success.. in fact a bit too much. All the new content, the streaming videos, the new forums.. are stressing the web server, which consumes too much bandwidth and randomly drops requests ( blank pages ). For this reason, we have decided to close the forums temporarily and disable the videos.

We will move to a more powerful, dedicated server soon, and hopefully within one or two days, everything will be back to normal. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ah, so THIS is what I upgraded my PC for! :D

Can't wait for it to be released!

Except, can I make a request? Can you engineer the game to not have a lot of lag? You know, for those of us with no-so-good internet? Please? :P

Everything you see is work-in-progress as we say everytime. We are not showing a finished product so some features are still missing.
Yes, some planets will have vegetation; you can see that we’ve already experimented with vegetation if you look at the latest terrain screenshots
