I Shall Remain is an Action Survival Role Playing game. Situated in an alternate history at the end of the Second World War, when Nazis managed to release a deadly virus over US territory, the game tells the story of two brothers and their intricate relation with the apocalyptic world rising in the leftovers of the Z0M81 Pandemic ravage.

This week, we'll be quickly running through the most important feature released this month inside the "June Update": The new SURVIVE! game mode

So! Why the big deal? Well.. Because if you ever wanted to play the game a few notches faster now you have the chance. And this is just the tip of the iceberg as the new game mode is going to see a LOT of improvements these upcoming months. I'll tell you what that is going to be, just read a few more lines.

survive levelup
Yeah, there's a lot of BOOM! and LEVEL UP! Prepare for a serious war, you're in one!

The main idea of this game mode is to get the highest score. Which can get tricky, really. Because you need to carefully juggle both the "SCORE" and the "ACCURACY" meters. And accuracy is no joke, it goes up and down really fast if you're not planning your weapons, skills and reflexes just right. Here's how I've been going about my score in a 7 night play session(7 out of 10 because I'm no good).

                                                      survival score
Score and accuracy rise and vary throughout 7 game nights

You will be testing your skills during 10 game nights. Each night, a set of waves of infected starts and you need to send them back to where they came from.. or just kill them. Good news though, there's a pause wave between each infected wave.

                                               survive nights
                                                 Nights and waves progress swatch

There's more good news. You can team up with NPCs, buy, trade, learn new skills or upgrade others. Really a lot of help from all these kind NPC people, if you can afford to pay them, that is! With all the precious scavenging, looting and traders, I managed to build some serious bonus stats!

                                                survive atts
Bonuses built via 7 nights of SURVIVE! game mode. Just imagine what one could accomplish in 10!

After each set of waves completed at night, in the morning the shop opens and you can meet up with your favorite traders to then trade in the goods. There is some major firepower to be obtained by playing your cards right in this game mode. You have until 6:00PM to scavenge the map, close the deals and prepare your battlefield.

          survive boom
No! This is not an airstrike, just some high Level, explosive action.. you know, nothing special :)
(note. the plan above actually failed, I've missed the BOSS type infected by a few meters)

Alright. I hope to have explained some basics about the game mode. It's pretty simple to grasp right now, really. In the upcoming months we'll be adding new maps, more complex and random mission quests for each night, which will be very different, changing the gameplay and the means with which you score points a lot! One night you might have to survive while guarding some point, saving others and other times you might need to get from A to B. These are just a few examples of the random quest objectives you'll be trying to complete while doing your best to stay alive. You will not be limited to 10 nights either, it will go on forever, if you can make it, that is!

ALSO! Be sure to get your copy of "I Shall Remain" if you'd like to support our development AND be on the lookout for a 20% OFF weekend sale through 10th-13th of July!

We thank you for your attention and invite you to follow our progress each week!

flaming infected                           As a final note, here's an infected on fire, for your entertainment.

About how many hours playtime are you figuring per episode? Oh and will the events of #1 carry on to number #2 and so on? (I.e. if One of my men wanders into an infester's mouth and dies in #1 will he still be gone in #2)

Is true, there's no save version for the Prologue (being free to play and all) but there's going to be one starting Episode one. I hope you enjoy it either way!

One thing we are excited to show in the next episode is a bunch of new game modes (besides story) just to allow people to understand how much diversity the game can provide. I can speak for anyone involved that we cant wait to share it!

Well I have finished the prologue. :) Possible spoilers...

Here are some thoughts...

I like the randomness of the stashed equipment. Makes you really want to check all the nooks and crannies.

Mines are nice but keep your distance. I lost one of my men to a mine that he was a wee too near.

Grenades not so much. Hard to gauge where the little buggers go. I think the zombies kill enough of my men without me fragging them.

YIPE! One play through a certain creature had a very hot toy. Wiped out a good portion of my party before I figured out where and what was doing it.

A save option I understand is coming with episode 1 but the prologue could use it as well.

When can we expect episode one?

That was the intention, in the next episode we will have so much more loot to gather.

We already though of adding a visual trail to see the grenade while traveling also i think we have to give it a bit more damage (dont like the way it punches either)

:) Yes, if you're very lucky from time to time you'll get a nazzi with a sniper rifle that will wreak havok through your man. They wont as you might not know where that comes from initially, just have to pay attention to the shooting sound (weapons on enemies are random so things are not harsh at all times)

>>When can we expect episode one?

Is coming in the next 2 months at most!

I DARE ANYONE who finished the prologue on normal to play it on Hard or Impossible (the last one is killin', you really have to play the game exceptionally if you want to survive)

Hello Mayflower, realy glad you tried the game!
Nobody said the game is going to be easy to play well :) I can assure you though it takes a while to learn how to play it but is really logically related in everything you do. Agreed that a control window is the most needed feature we dont have into the Prologue but as Florin suggested, pressing CTRL while ingame and then using Left/Right keys will show you most of the actions you can do (and the keys for it). Also is good to follow the current quest (key L), each quest (if necessary) will show you where you need to go (there's an arrow on the minimap that does just that. Also, please start playing it on easy (if Normal mode looks too chaotic) that should allow you to advance easier and understand well what is going on.
About not having flares/batteries you should scavange, theres probably 100 scavanging places on that map where you can find a lot of items to use, its just that you need to discover (and learn) what kind of places the scavanging takes place in.
I would suggest you play the game once again on easy and dont just take I shall remain just as a mindless action game, IT IS REALLY NOT. In order to finish it you have to play it smart (at least a little).
Im hoping you'll give it another try as there are countless options you can try. (first is, press CTRL and hold it and cycle through the tutorial lines with left and right keys when you feel you cannot move further)
Also please access this link which explains all the actions/keys you can do within the game : Desura.com

One or two glitches, but still incredible! Great job, I am impressed that this is your first game!
