To be honest I am considering working on a Honor Harrington mod based off of David Weber's books by the same name. This game supports the large ship classes needed along with the small ship classes needed as well so I don't forsee it being a problem but I'm trying to remember if the source code for Homeworld 1 has been released or not. If it has I may use that instead for a couple of reasons:

1. In the books they can send recon drones (platforms) in before they come in to attack, I want to be able to put that in the game as well.

2. I need to redefine how the ships fire almost completely...ships in the Honorverse fire almost like naval ships of yesteryear, broadsides for the mostpart with few forward or rear missile mounts. They have "grasers" with are the equivalent of the Heavy Ion Cannon Frigates that are already present in the game, but that will need to be modified.

3. Ship designs will need to be slightly modified as well but thankfully there are designs available now. :D

I'll post more as I flesh it out, anyone with suggestions or who wants to help, LET ME KNOW! :D

Peace!

Hey everyone,
First off, i'm a new member and so if i seem really dumb bear with me
K, so i've been looking for a Star Trek mod for homeworld2 for a really long time and even considered making one all by myself which actually started out working fine but i ended up finding out that i have no clue how to UV map models and so i ended up with a whole bunch of stupid looking ships that were white and of course my computer had to crash so i just decided to put that part of my life behind me. Anyway due to this "experience" i've got a lot of time logged on the computer making models and coding for mods. I've looked over the thread here see some things that i think can be easily done using freeware. Basically i'm offering to help you guys with making the Star Trek mod. I have some experience with modeling in MAYA 7.0 and BLENDER and can learn almost any programing language (with some help that is). The only problem i see is that i'm a student at a middle school and i have to put my school work ahead of the fun stuff in life so i can't devote myself to making a mod.
Yep, that's basically it, o also i have access to LOTS of pictures of Star Trek ships due to the fact that i own a lot of the episodes and have a card in my computer that can capture stuff off the TV- so I hope i can help u with your mod.

Also, ships can be made with 3ds max. Recently, a talented member of the modding community has made a tool to export models. You can find more on the Relic News forums. =)

There are several ways you can do this, with programs such as MissionBoySE (no link sorry).

BlitzKreig... i am interested in both of those mods... and i'm pretty sure EvilleJedi has a few Star Trek models laying around on his hard drive that he would probably let you use... if you need any help with some scripting, i would help out with that too....
