While you were battling the evil forces of D'Sparil, the other Serpent Riders were busy sowing the seeds of destruction in other dimensions. One such dimension is the decaying world where Hexen takes place. A world littered with the mangled corpses of nonbelievers and inhabited by the undead followers that executed them. Only three humans &endash; a warrior, a mage and a cleric &endash; have escaped the leaders' vicious spell. Now these brave souls have sworn to crush the evil regime that threatens to destroy the world forever. Separated upon entering the mystical portal, the three are forced to attempt on their own what they had hoped to do together: find Korax's stronghold, destroy him and restore order in the physical world.

Best medieval themed game ever

This game is so fantastic - supercedes any other fantasy setting with ease
and now even such a great botmatch mod which is the KORAX ARENA - outstanding!!!

Hexen is a very atmospheric and dark Fantasy/FPS-game. As you fight your way through with melee weapons or magic you will encounter deadly enemies and solve confusing puzzles. You also have an inventory which is used to store various items for later use. The world is much more mature and realistic
than Heretic's and everything feels more alive with blowing leaves, foggy swamps and
environmental ambient sound.

A true gem in the 90's gaming era.

Ah, the hexen... nothing about heretic, but a good game indeed. the 3 options player is a wellcome addon from heretic and, i must add, i miss Corvus working here. maybe i´m becomming old (and I do for a long time) but this kind of games, the old school, is better than the overresouced new shooters of today.

Such a great game.

Pretty good game. Not bad.

Hexen has the advantage of being one of the most unique games that came out, it made swinging a axe or mace for the first time a joy for many people who owned a Nintendo 64.
It had a nice variety of locations and enemies, and a unique set of weapons for each class that added to the replay value. Theres quite a few secret areas to and its gotten quite a few good mods to improve the game further. The bosses feel tougher and better designed than the Doom 1, 2 counterparts.
Yes it's hard to not like this game even considering how old it is now.

There are disadvantages,

Like you could want more assets into the game, so that theres more furniture and other props...
Fights where rather drawn out, ettins took some punishment, centaurs had this shield that makes them invulnerable, even once you get stronger weapons.
Directionless levels meant wandering around alot with little idea of how to proceed although that did add to the length of the game.

4 weapons per class isn't that much, game could have used atleast 1 or 2 more for each of the classes...and such the game feels a little tactically weak without secondary attacks for your 4 weapons. Mods fix that though. Community have added alot to this game.
