Heretic was the first game to use the Doom engine outside of id. Produced by John Romero in cooperation of Raven Software, Heretic promises to be a great fantasy blastfest in a package! Fight off Gargoyles, Golems, Wraiths and Weredragons with your Dragonclaw, Phoenix rod, Hellstaff and Firemace! This game also introduces a new item system that's become a general must for most games, using with the familiar bracket keys. Items include Wings of Wrath, Polymorph Egg, Chaos Device, Disc of Repulsion, and everyone's favorite Tome of Power, that supercharges your weapons!
This is a new episode for Heretic based on the idea that the D'Speril that was killed was not the real D'Speril, so you now have to find your way through his realm and slay him once and for all. Contains New Weapons, New Enemies, New Levels, New Sounds, New Music, New Items.
awesome
Very good but has bugs - and I reached a stage where maulotaurs were fighting their own shadows - but there seemed no way of opening the gate to get past them.
Killing them just meant more appeared.
[spoiler] The maulotaurs are a red herring, the gate opens via a shootable switch from the side.
I encounter a console error whenever I try to use the Moon Rod, I tried both GZDoom (4.5.0) and LZDoom (3.87):
VM execution aborted: Invalid class HereticPlayerAmp in function call to MoonRod.StateFunction.10. Moon Rod expected
Solution: use GZDoom 3.6.0 and earlier.
