The first of the hope to be regular weekly update.
There have been some good activity in the mod so far. I myself have been working some every day to make this thing kick off, though it seems that it might take a month or two to get this thing started.
For starters, i have written some of the core designs and made a mind map of the entire structure of the game. I have also established the item / gear list that will be used in the first release.
(curious? >:) )
It will be released once the art for it is made, giving us time to test and theorize how everything should work, but all i can say is that its very small. We do not try to make the entire gear list for the marines, nor do we intend to make the rest of the 40k world.
We plan to make a very small game, that is really really well made with the right feeling, we try to keep everything at a realistic level that we, as developers, feel can accomplish within our lifetime, or at least, our youth.
So, this weeks progress have been substantial, I can also say that i am working on a very complex piece of drop pod that will be the entry scene for each mission. This piece might take a extra week to get ready, because of its complex inner structure and tons of movable parts and shape.
To describe it, each mission is planned to have a cinematic event when everyone who is about to start the mission is strapped to the pod seats, hear the sounds of gushing through the atmosphere, and clash to ground, and exit the pod Omaha beach style.
The missions will end in a extraction scene, a Thunderhawk will land at the extraction point, and the marines that are still alive need to get inside it to win the round, Death as a marine is obviously fail, and no Thunderhawk will come.
But the creation of the Thunderhawk is another story, and will be made at a later date.
w00t droppods!
nice, sounds good, and i'm glad to see you are setting realistic goals: to many projects die from biting off too much for their first release.
slow and steady is the way
