Helena The 3rd Trailer
May 21, 2012 Trailers 0 commentsAvailable for download in case anyone wanted to post it elsewhere.
Pilot a jumping tank through a maze of underground caverns and dungeons in search of new abilities you'll need to progress deeper into the levels. Each upgrade is hidden out of reach of your tank, and can only be obtained after exploring on foot. (This game is inspired by a certain NES game which I love) SPECIAL NOTE: 2 Free keys to anyone that agrees to make a youtube video of the game!

If you've played the co-op of months past, you might have noticed the occasional odd bug here and there. Enemies wouldn't sync, sometimes two music tracks would play at once, and if you lost all your lives you might have found yourself spawning very far back.
Well, I wanted to let you know that the experience has been vastly improved. All those bugs have been fixed. Multiplayer would even occasionally crash while playing on Linux, and the source of that bug has also been uncovered and squashed.
If you haven't tried co-op out yet, you really should, it's very fun!
A New Ability
Helena the 3rd now has a new ability, which you can currently only access through the level editor, but once activated, pressing z will give you a temporary shield that absorbs all damage.
This will be used to get through the lava in stage 5, leading to the ice world of stage 6.
After that, look forward to a grappling hook being added in game in the near future!
New Worlds
Along with these new abilities. We now have a new level designer! Keith Garry is joining us, and is already honing his skills by creating some bonus levels for the game!
New Music!
Last but not least, our music composer has created new tracks for levels 3 and 4, the water and lava levels. Give them a listen! You can also check out more of his work over at Mikecharlesmusic.com

Highest Rated (5 agree) 10/10
A very nice "Remake" (Inspired a lot by old NES's Classic Blaster Master). We don't really see those a lot of games in the area as this one these days and this one owes a great 10/10

Uhmm....On Windows 7 64 bit computer, I have no textures, just looks like line drawings really.
I havn't tested on my main OS yet (Linux). Anyone else having this, or knows how to fix it?
The game is awesome, I got a key from Venn in G+ and I must say I'm impressed. If you manage to refine the graphics a little (creature animations), fix some of the glitches with the creature path mapping (they get stuck and start to twitch like crazy) and hopefully allow for better camera positioning (as it is in the full 3D tank levels it is REALLY HARD to measure distances) you're looking at a perfect 10. And I rarely give games a perfect score.
Oh and allow people to remap their controls. But that's just me being picky. =D
You are too kind sir. The truth is probably that this is just a $3.99 game and most will have to be happy with what they've paid for, unless sales pick up or the kickstarter goes through.
As to the 3D issue, don't forget you can press "R" in game to zoom out and then you can turn the camera angle to judge distances better.
Thing about pressing R is that I play with the arrow keys (right hand) and mouse (left hand)... which means I'd have to let go of one of the control areas to reach it. Something that could be easily fixed if the default camera was only ever so slightly raised and zoomed out. But, once again, maybe that's just me. ^.^ Kudos!
Helena is part of the BecauseWeMay.com sale, and will be on sale through June 2nd.

Thanks to Venn Stone and his project Linux Game Cast, that's where I read first time about Helena the 3rd and downloaded the demo. Now bought a full copy. :)
Yea he's a cool guy, isn't he?
There's currently no fullscreen option in the game, sorry :/
No problem! The game is very nice!
