Only for Windows Vista, Halo 2 will offer gamers both the single-player campaign and multiplayer experience of the original, as well as the additional maps offered in the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack. Gamers will also have the opportunity to build, create and customize their own multiplayer levels.

Halo: Combat Evolved and its sequel, Halo 2, have achieved phenomenal success on the Xbox video game platform as gamers around the world follow the saga of Master Chief in his battle against the Covenant forces. In 2003, the original Halo roared onto Windows PCs. In Halo 2 for Windows Vista, the action picks up where the first game ended. Master Chief, with the help of a small group of marines, has destroyed the religious artifact and artificial world known as Halo, and is making his way back to Earth. There, he and the last surviving Earth forces will mount a titanic struggle against the marauding Covenant enemy. To date, the Halo franchise has sold more than 14.5 million games worldwide with over 600 million hours of multiplayer action logged across Microsoft's Xbox Live online gaming service.

Then the hacked version of halo 2 is useless, if you can't play online!

New PC games with DX 10. The new FPS Bioshock game, I found out the other day that this game has both of the DX's, so this means its has the DX9 and the DX10 on the disc for the people who have on or the other.
SO!
Why couldn’t Microsoft done this for Halo 2, and putting it on both XP and vista, this would have been a better idea than just putting the halo2 game using the DX10 and on vista. Putting both of the DX’s 9 and 10 on the game would mean that players could play them on one or the other. If Bioshock can do this (A new released game), why can’t Microsoft, for god sake they have a enough money to do this. To me they have let down all of the XP players, and really the game’s graphics on vista systems are about the same as on XP. Look at the upcoming UT3, it will be able to work both on XP and Vista machines, also it will be able to work on slightly older machines.
That’s way UT3 is going to rock, for gamers, and both XP and Vista players will be able to enjoy the game.

Microsoft should have done this for its gamers!

STARS out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

I'm not sure, but I bet it's possible to upgrade XP to DX 10. I was able to upgrade my old win9 to DX 9.

Bob, there's a major difference... Windows XP is Windows at its peak, and it's best for computer nerds (if you don't hack things, you're no nerd; REAL nerds hack computers and games to suit them more). Windows Vista has infinitely more bugs than XP's debut, not to mention its firmware is infinitely more hostile to hacking 'n' cracking (and legal third-party things, too!) than XP's.

I've already beaten Halo 2 on XP through a patch and buying the game, and although I can't play multiplayer until the Halo 2 hacking community comes up with a patch for that, Halo 2 Campaign is STILL the best damn shooter I've ever played, unlike Halo, which was just a pretty good shooter and no more.

lol_internet, shut up.

Well they should of made 2 types of the game, one for XP and one for vista!! Having it only on vista lets down all the people who have xp! Unreal 2 far better game than halo 2 anyway.

Anyway my mate bought halo 2 for his vista only, did not even work at all, shows u how good vista is when one of its own games does not even work on it own system. His computer had all of the specifcations and more and still did'nt work, wasted £25.00 for nothing X) nice.

I recall that many were disappointed with Halo 2's cliffhangar ending...however, I like to see it as a bridge between two fantastic games -- in fact, they're not games. Games are just entertainment -- Halo is more, much, much more...

HALO 2 is a fantastic achievement and a milestone in human history...100/10

Some guys just made a patch modifying Halo 2 to work with Windows XP and directX 9.0c. They also made one for Shaodowrun as well! Flips off Bill Gates... :P

The only reason Halo runs only for Vista is so Microsoft can promote Vista. I HATE THEM! I mean, Vista is nothing but a glorified XP with dx 10 that can barely run anything. :P
