About Christmas-Life Classic with 4 comments by KAEPS133 on Nov 2nd, 2014

In 2012 Polygon Art released a small Half-Life 1 Modification called "Christmas-Life". The feedback and the joy of the community was amazing and they asked for more content... A year later Christmas-Life 2k13, a mission pack with 10 new maps for the original Mod was released.

Today I'm proud to announce the next iteration of Christmas-Life for 2014!

Christmas-Life HD

And I'm even more proud to announce that the newest Christmas-Life is a free standalone game based on the new Unreal Engine 4.5!

With the change of the engine from GoldSrc to Unreal Engine 4 there are some other changes besides the better graphic. For the first time of the Christmas-Life history it's no more a first person Jump 'n' Run. In Christmas-Life HD you play Frosty the Snowman from a third person perspective through new impressive levels. The new Engine provides the posibility to make Levels with different gravitations, more movable objects and a lot more surprises.

The release date, the content and more informations will be announced very soon!

This game is increadible. Half-Life has an SDK available for easily programming mods, as well as a mod managment device built into the client for simplicity of changing mods. Open-Source modding enviorments are a great way for companies to make the game popular and interesting. Anyone can create their own game based off of Half-Life's work (which I doubt anyone would like to program the entire thing). It also has an SDK and server for the Linux enviorment (most Open-Source Operating Systems have emulatory support for Linux now days, personally I prefer FreeBSD for security. Linux emulation makes this possible). The game itself, Half-Life is awesome. Gameplay length is great, I remember the first time I played it, I thought it was almost over, the time that I was drawn up the machine lift, I thought, "I'm up top already? Well the game is pretty short, but it was a great game". Then I found out I actually have to break through the numerous troops and enter a subdwelling, and then the game is just starting even then. Multi-player is great, I should not have to go into levels.

Run. Think. Shoot. Live.In Half-Life, players assume the role of the protagonist, Dr. Gordon Freeman, a recent MIT graduate in theoretical physics, and also a recent employee at Black Mesa. After an experiment that goes horribly awry when an unexpected Resonance Cascade (an apparently completely fictitious occurrence) rips dimensional seams that devastate the facility, Gordon must fight to escape the now alien-infested facility as creatures from another world — known as Xen — subsequently enter…
