The New Hunger System
In a zombie apocalypse, zombies wouldn't be the only threat. There would also be the constant threat of starvation. With the new hunger system, player has to look in stores, supermarkets, etc to find food in order to not starve. Hunger is represented by a hunger meter currently in the top right of the screen (this might change) which turns red as player gets hungrier. When player is starving, 1 healthpoint will be removed per second until they find food.

LOL!

Install it to your Half-Life folder.

Run Half-Life.

Click "Custom Game".

Select Earth's Special Forces from the list.

Click Activate.

Click done.

You now see a repulsive (no offense) half-life interface.

Modding didn't start with Half Life. It started with a little game some of you might remember called Quake. IIRC Quake was the first title that the developers released the source code to the public, which is what makes modding games possible. Heck, modding probably started before that with other games ( I believe there are Doom mods out there ), but that was probably considered reverse engineering the code which developers frowned upon at the time. Half Life definitely deserves the title of 'Greatest Game to Mod' as well as 'Greatest PC Game of All Time' but it definitely wasn't first on the mod scene.

hope Doug Lombardi is reading this.

The bad thing is valve is making bad decisions on updating graphics on future releases - "Hi-res textures". How about Shaders, and new BSP format!? The current one makes half-life unplayable on my 266MHz. Its the subdividing of the brushes that tend to slow down.

and they need to fix all the crashes coming with d3d and opengl with the interface.....

i don't take the half-life hype...

btw. majority of player models for this use canned anims. BOORING. when is some people making their own?

22050 8bit quality sounds induce headaches. PLEASE PLEASE switch to 44100 16bit.

I said CS was the 1st because it was the 1st that Valve really said "Here it is, we're selling it, look how good it is." I know TFC was the actual 1st, but I heard of CS before TFC (by about 6 minutes, but there you go) becaues it was on the box and TFC wasn't.

Valve had better get their act together with TF2, because they're losing people from CS.

"CS is most played, eve now, just not as much. It lose over 2 mill people cos of last update."

good, the cheat+exploit using fools deserve to not play :)

"I agree CS was the 1st, the greatest and the one that started modding off. Now it's obscure, difficult to get into (not find a server, but to start as a newbie) and has an obsessive death."

Actually, TFC was the first mod for Half-Life, starting the "custom game" aka mod trend. CS came many mods later, but I guess most cs retail whores who claim they have played cs since the very first beta wouldn't know that. Back to the point, TFC terefor claims the "1st" and "started modding off" things. And TFC is greater when it comes to teamwork because, as many notice, in CS teamwork is replaced with "who has the lowest ping + who has the latest ogc + who has admin".

too bad cs is probably the only thing keeping valve from developing newer games like tf2 or half-life 2, why would they release a new game if they already have a big money maker?

Many gams are coming out these days that have a lot more atmosphere in them and immersion too. CS is jsut serious sam without the midless part of the killing, making it bland and old I think. The levels are usually nearly all bland, simple, basic lighting, etc.
