I seriously wonder are there really that many people that prefer to used desktop icons, as opposed to starting their games from Steam? Since those would be completely obsolete for use whit Steam after the beta becomes the official version.
That aside the icons look more or less OK.

whats the point of even going to steam to open the game? plus i play some of my steam games offline! am not going to wait till steam opens to play the game. And i bet you have shortcuts in ur desktop m8! why do u use them, why dont you just do and browse everytime u want to open a program !?

Because like most people he probably puts his non steam games in steam as well and like most people he probally doesn't like his desktop filled with icons.

Btw you do realize even when you use a shortcut your going through steam right?
P.S. Icons look good but I'm not a fan of the sunburst effect behind them

well but you made icons for valve games and you need steam to play this game even in offline-mod

btw: icons are more or less ok, but i wouldnot use them, they are ok, but i don't like them really ^^
