Pick up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its populace dwindling. Freeman is thrust into the unenviable role of rescuing the world from the wrong he unleashed back at Black Mesa. And a lot of people, people he cares about, are counting on him.
Taking place in and around City 17 sometime in the near future, Half-Life 2 follows the scientist Gordon Freeman. Gordon is thrust into an unfamiliar environment in which the aftermath of the Black Mesa Incident has come to bear fully upon human society. Freeman is forced to battle against increasingly unfavorable odds in order to free Mankind from the Combine. In his struggle, he is joined by various allies, including fellow scientists, rebels, and friends (such as Alyx Vance) - all shocked to see him alive. Overall its a great game.
One of the greatest games in the world, Half-Life 2 is an outstanding title in the history of gaming. Words aren't enough to describe the magnificence of the Half-Life series. Full of action, adventure, puzzles, and even some mistery, this game will go through the history books as a game that changed the history of gaming forever.
Half Life 2 has to be the hilight of my FPS playing history. The gameplay is simple and yet enjoyable, the story is very interesting, and the characters are so life-like I feel like I've actually met them.
However, the game does have it's drawbacks. The main one is load times. They are long and frequent. If I could wish for one feature to be in HL2 or even ep3, it would be level streaming, at least some of the time. The loading is driving me crazy.
Moving on, there aren't many more bad things to say about this game. The graphics are beautiful for running so fast on many older computers, and the difficulty is balanced enough that probably anyone with the right time could beat it. A worthy successor to Half Life 1.
I'd better stop now. Writing this review is making me want to play it again.
No review necessary. This game is a virtual deity among PC gamers. This is what kept me from becoming a Console loser and kept me loyal to PC Games.
However, if Gabe Newell wasn't busy eating 200'000 sandviches and fooling with his Jazz hands instead of working on the next half life installment, I might have remained more loyal to valve.
Just when you thought Gordon was coming back after Portal 2, Valve announces DOTA 2 and a new counter strike game.
By the time HL3 or HL2-EP3 Is released, I'll have grandchildren, arthritus and three failed marriages.
I Stopped thinking about Half life because by the time it does come around, I probably wont even care, it will be another duke nukem forever, procrastinated so long that when it finally does come it's a dissapointment.
Anyway enough about that. HL2, Epic game, may seem mediocre by today's standards, but you're not a true PC Player until you've played this.
The sequel to one of the best FPS's of all time, Half-Life 2 is just pure epicness for a sequel! This game can only be comparable to it predecessor, due to it being absolute awsomeness! Great game for modding as it has over 300 mods! It's a little old, but F**K it's a good game! It's better then most games these days so get it! You will not be disappointed!!!
Re-Play Value: 10/10
Modding Value: 10/10
Half-Life 2 is the ONLY game that I would give a 10/10 score. Usually I avoid giving perfect scores, because that would mean that there is no way that another game could be better. However, it doesn't matter. Half-Life 2 is the most perfect game we have today and if another game is better, I'll give it 10/10 too.
Why is Half-Life 2 this good?
-Much, much longer than the average FPS
-You are in many places, without the game loosing connectivity
I could go on, bug you'll better find out yourself...
