Pick up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, and find yourself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its populace dwindling. You must rescue the world from the wrong you unleashed back at Black Mesa.

The original Half-Life sent a shock through the game industry with its combination of pounding action and continuous, immersive storytelling. Valve's debut title won more than 50 Game of the Year awards, was named "Best Game Ever" by PC Gamer, and launched a franchise which has since sold over 11 million units worldwide. By taking the suspense, challenge and visceral charge of the original Half-Life and adding startling new realism and responsiveness, Half-Life 2 opens the door to a world where the player’s presence affects everything around him or her, from the physical environment to the behaviors and even the emotions of both friends and enemies.

Technical note: most mods “for Half-Life 2” are actually cross-compatible with all of Valve's Source engine games. Check a mod’s profile for details on whether a specific game is needed.

About Deathmatch Classic: Source with 4 comments by KOLIAakaJASON on Sep 3rd, 2015

So, let's have a start. Firstly, let's have a talk about project, about it purpose. The main purpose of this mod is to make a straight port of Deathmatch Classic. Which means that the whole game will be ported over to the Source Engine. I will port all sounds, models, effects, materials etc. And configure them to work with the Source Engine. If what i have just stated still is a bit confusing to you then basically what I am doing is creating a Half-Life: Source version of Deathmatch Classic. So that Deathmatch Classic will get the updated features such as updated water, shaders, models, textures and much more. For that moment I have ported all maps from Deathmatch Classic to the Source Engine. They are looking very good, but need some polish for the final release. So, here are the screenshots about the maps.

And here is the video about testing ported maps.

Good luck and have a big fun.

What's so "innovative" about HL2 then?

"5 years of work"? Explain all the orange placeholder textures in those screenshots with that claim at the time. 5 months more like it. Or perhaps even less....

That's an antlion, not one of the ST aliens. Bad joke. If there were 7000 of the antlions and 300 dead humans on the ground, then it'd be like Starship Troopers.

Dragonlord... you're wrong in every way. The game has been in development for five (closer to six, now) years. Half-Life, one of the most popular games of all time, was in development for less than 2 - with an unstabilized team.

The graphics are getting old - they're the worst part of it (and they're still beautiful!). Its the immersion, the gameplay, and the modifications that are so phenomenal. I'm a HL2 fanboy and I know everything there is to know about it... so next time, before you make an uninformed and retarded post, read up on it first.

Doom 3 is going to be awesome graphics-wise and sounds-wise (Trent Reznor, of Nine Inch Nails, is doing the music!), but id Software has been lacking in innovation... it will be mediocre. For those of us that can run it.

Minimum bare-bones lowest setting requirements for Doom 3:
2ghz p4, 128mg gfx, 512mg RAM.

Minimum HL2 requirements: <1gb pIII, 32mg? gfx
The HL2 Source engine is far more refined than the Doom 3 engine is, and can adapt to most hardware.

HL2>Doom III

I heard it's comming the end of this summer (2004) so you can rant and wine then.

And I don't see how doomIII is so great. just good graphics, that's all.

how can you praise a game you don't know yet then too? i'm just convinced it will NOT kick *** (in the graphics dep sure but who cares grahics... that's only for benchmark kiddies). unless the game can proof beeing good i do not praise it... and in contrast... what i've seen so far made me damn suspicous... suspicous this might become a farting joke. a game that is crap but the mods will be good. isn't it pathetic to make a game only for modding because else it sux? ^_^

Sadly it never ends for Gordon Freeman, he is gaming worlds Jack Bauer, consistently going from one bad day to the next. No sooner have you blown up the head of the Xenian Nihilanth and discussed career prospects with the mysterious G-Man than he tosses you in the mix again. Another train ride another mysterious situation leaving Gordon (and you the gamer) none the wiser, but thats what we like about the Half-life series and all it's canonical universe, Valve will always give you a Palm d'or plot…
