Pick up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, and find yourself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its populace dwindling. You must rescue the world from the wrong you unleashed back at Black Mesa.

The original Half-Life sent a shock through the game industry with its combination of pounding action and continuous, immersive storytelling. Valve's debut title won more than 50 Game of the Year awards, was named "Best Game Ever" by PC Gamer, and launched a franchise which has since sold over 11 million units worldwide. By taking the suspense, challenge and visceral charge of the original Half-Life and adding startling new realism and responsiveness, Half-Life 2 opens the door to a world where the player’s presence affects everything around him or her, from the physical environment to the behaviors and even the emotions of both friends and enemies.

Technical note: most mods “for Half-Life 2” are actually cross-compatible with all of Valve's Source engine games. Check a mod’s profile for details on whether a specific game is needed. Get the steampipe fixes here.

As of 4/28/16, PUNT: Rebirth has been officially greenlit! We can't thank those who voted for us and shared the page enough!

Unfortunately, we don't have too much as far as new screenshots go at the moment, primarily because the current maps which we are developing are still in developer textures. However, there is still some content to discuss.

As shown in our screenshot from 4/12, we've revised the cubes with the help of Miss Stabby! In addition to the cubes, we have multiple model and texture changes in the works at the current moment. While the general look of the game won't change too drastically, future content will feature "cleaner" tiling in puzzles, as well as screenshots from areas other than the ECHO (Punt gun) testing track. Hopefully we'll have screenshots from these changes soon.

Once the majority of these changes are completed, we'll upload a new gameplay video which features them. While this may take a while, we will continue to develop the current map lineup, and what we eventually show will undoubtedly be worth the wait. In the mean time, there are a few new songs which are currently in the works, and they will be uploaded before the eventual gameplay video.

Until next time,

-Tristan (BoxandRocks)

Well, this game is impressive but too short. I finished it in 3 days...

It runs fine with all graphics to the max on my computer.

Check my profile to know what computer I have.

I am also making a mod for Half-Life 2.

I finish the version of that mod for Renegade, then we move to the source engine.

I think that despite what many say the ending to the game was absolutely terrific. I usually don't like cliffhangers, BUT THIS ONE WAS AWESOME! The final level's appearance, style, design, and scripting are fantastic. The end is incredibly creative, actually artistically done in a way that no other game has done or matched. Yes, good cliffhangers DO exist. There is game technology used in the end level I haven't seen before but I won't spoil it for anyone. This isn't a crappy twist ending like the last quarter of MGS2 (god, when did Metal Gear Solid go from "play your own Die Hard-style action movie" to "endure a crazy Japanime/military movie hybrid conspiracy theory half-plot that makes no sense"?)

The graphics aren't as good as Far Cry's with it's models, textures, and lighting but it runs EXTRAORDINARILY smooth. The facial animation seems more expressive than even the characters in the Final Fantasy movie, and while the lighting and models aren't as detailed or impressive as D3 or FC it has some unique effects that are far superior (the strider cannon warp thingy is AWESOME). The physics are terrific and are a major part of the gameplay, something not yet done as well.

CSS run smoother than HL1 and it's mods online, and it runs equally or more smoothly than other games it is graphically neck and neck with like Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, Doom 3, or Far Cry.

The guns are more useful now since there is location based damage, and thankfully the guns don't get phased out like in HL1. Unlike in HL1, I used the 9mm pistol and the shotgun along with the submachine gun all the way through the end. The submachine gun is a disappointment though. The MP7 is only a tiny bit bigger than most pistols, so how could it POSSIBLY have a grenade launcher? It doesn't share the pistol's ammo so it doesn't have to be an SMG. It should be an assault rifle like the M4 or something (it could even have had a scope to let you shoot when you use the zoom in function). Also, I know they added it to keep the game like HL1, but why did they add the crossbow and why does it's arrows glow? I think a sniper rifle may have been less unique but more sensable. The rocket launcher doesn't have a reload animation unless you consider the front going down for a moment a reload animation, but I guess that doesn't matter.

This game is absolutely worthy of the title of Half-Life, and anyone who complains simply can't be satisfied by anything. Don't listen to reviewers like Gamespot.com that say the game doesn't leave Half-Life's roots too much because that isn't true. The gameplay is different in nearly every way and the game's style is totally different.

HL1 had a modern late 1990s style setting with a survivalist "one man on his own" action movie cliche. HL2 is futuristic and almost surrealistic from the combonation of taking place a great deal in the future like a crossbreed of tones from the Matrix or 1984 and is actually VERY reminiscent of the two Warsaw uprisings of WW2 (Jewish Poles and non ghetto Poles were seperate). There are some things that mimic HL1, but there is so much more to it.

P.S. In the game's files I saw the icons for the OICW and the Gauss gun (the icons you see on the top of the screen when you select weapons)and I have seen screenshots of them in use, but I haven't found those guns ingame. If someone could help that would be great.

Lol 7 overall? Some Halo 2 kids must have came on here and rated it. Either that or people got mad because their computer couldnt run it. Cant wait to finally show these Halo 2 kids a "real" game that can live up to the hype, unlike Halo 2.

Sadly it never ends for Gordon Freeman, he is gaming worlds Jack Bauer, consistently going from one bad day to the next. No sooner have you blown up the head of the Xenian Nihilanth and discussed career prospects with the mysterious G-Man than he tosses you in the mix again. Another train ride another mysterious situation leaving Gordon (and you the gamer) none the wiser, but thats what we like about the Half-life series and all it's canonical universe, Valve will always give you a Palm d'or plot…
