Pick up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its populace dwindling. Description
Experimental Fuel is a quick map I made for a HL2World.com mapping competition. The challenge was to design a rocket launch. It was a nice project to work on and allowed for some creativity. Map story: You are working with a team of scientists to test new rocket designs and experimental fuel types. So this is a little bit different from a regular rocket. You don't have much money to work with, so rocket testing is done right in your backyard. Understanding the Diet Coke and Mentos reaction is a prerequisite to playing this. Hint: If you can't find it, there is a lever on one of the big white fuel tanks that you need to use. Note: This is meant for HL2 single player. Place .bsp file in \SteamApps\emailaddress\half-life 2\hl2\maps\. To play, open your console and type: map bmg1_experimental_fuel.

Very cool. I enjoyed it a lot.
The surrounding countryside as you lift up could have had a bit more detail, but that isn't a major issue. The part where you see earth from inside the spaceship is really cool.
It would be great if you expanded the map a bit, like have the coke bottle dock with Mir, then you go and talk to the crew, but the station comes under attack by headcrabs and there is a little physics puzzle (like a door not opening so you have to find and crawl through a vent to get to the other side and open it for the crew). You then get back to the Coke bottle and it ends as the bottle detaches from Mir as it explodes.
Haha ok maybe you don't want suggestions, but what I am trying to say is that this would be really cool if you expanded it a bit.

"Experimental Fuel" is not a TERRIBLE map......however the problem with it is that it IS 'terribly-SHORT.' It probably didn't require the brain of a 'baboon' to make this map.....but it likely did require the brain of an 'orangutan.'
Fueling and launching the rocket wasn't exactly......*ahem*.......'rocket science'..........as much as 'jet science.' For what it's worth, I rate this map a 3/10.
