Welcome in my Vertigo skyscraper beta Half-life 2 (hl2) mod! Fix and some textures by me, but other by Valve! I dont like say it long. just try mod if...
The development for this month has been focused on expanding the world design by working on custom textures and decals. The exterior level design of Niagara Square was started this month; progress on the area is still early.
It should be noted that I have not made much progress this month due to my medical status. Unless stated otherwise in future newsletters, assume that any further lack of development is due to that reason.
Since I have not much to display this month, I will be uploading a demonstration video of the completed area of the Niagara Apartments sometime later this week.
Throughout the past month I have been designing faded billboards for fictional American companies that were existent before the Universal Union’s invasion and subsequent occupation of Earth. A recent billboard texture that has been created (the backdrop combines two plaster textures from Half-Life 2) is for a fictional fast food restaurant chain that sells high fat donkey meat.
I have also been working on a very early version of Niagara Square (the exterior portion of the "Introduction" chapter). I do not have any rendered versions of the map to showcase yet, so a rather unrevealing screen capture of the map in the Hammer editor is provided below for those interested.
I am currently debating on releasing the first version of the alpha earlier than expected. The initial plan was to release after I have a fairly complete version of the first chapter of the modification. Since it could take up to the entire year to complete a working version of the first chapter, it may be suitable to release earlier in order to at least provide a prototype version of the modification for testing purposes.
For those who want more of a complete experience of the modification, I strongly recommend that you wait at least until the alpha stage of development is finished. Regardless, I will be certainly uploading my own walkthrough of the Alpha 1 version once it is completed.
