Heagemonia: Legions of Iron and its sequel expansion Solon Heritage are space based strategy and conquest games. Heagemonia plays on multiple levels, from an empire management level (complete with taxation and research on planets) to a space combat mode. In space combat, there are 4 distinct classes of space craft, Fighters, Corvettes, Cruisers, and Battleships. These heavily armed ships are complemented by the usual resource collectors and spy units found in RTS games. The game(s) have both a single player storyline and a multiplayer mode. In fact Heagemonia is credited with being one of the only space empire games that you sit down and play a fast multiplayer game of. Heagemonia is fully modable, and several projects are underway.

Version 1.0 is basic (and stable - and most important) label for next modding. Next versions will be in form of pack exactly for this 1.0 version. So if You will have some trouble after upgrading, You can any time return into this stable version.
So this download is most recommended for all, because every next my update will be for it.

I just tried the mod. It's fun but still needs a lot of work IMO.

At first some bugs I encountered:

- my homeworld is always randomly terraformed into a volcanic planet (without using the terraforming option in the game)

- when terraforming any planet they are always terraformed into volcanic planets instead of oceanic, terran or gaia planets

- with ongoing research the list becomes too long and you can't see some of the technologies on the research screen anymore.

So much for the bugs I encountered. And here are some suggestions to improve the mod experience:

- make the medium and large ships and stations not available until you have researched the necessary tech levels.

- starfighter squadrons should consist of a few more ships per squadron IMO (e.g. tech 1: 3 ships; tech 2: 4 ships; tech 3: 6 ships)

- add at least one resource mine to every star system on the big "Star Wars" map (the one with the Coruscant, Alderaan, Corellia, Kuat, Naboo and Yavin systems)

- add a few more small and medium capital ship types (e.g. Lancer frigate, Victory Stardesroyer, Dreadnaught, etc.) It's a bit boring too have almost only fighters and large battleships

And BTW is there any way to change the maxium number of research points in skirmish games? I think 80000 RP at game start are not enough but playing with infinite RP is getting too boring. I think the possiblilty to choose a maxium of 100000 or 120000 would be nice.

@Bugs
I guess the auto terraforming ist not really a bug, in HGM the different species have different planettypes for terraform-optimum...maybe these are just not changed at 1.0 so far.
Also the researchlist is scrollable! simply click on the tech and scroll down by arrow-key.

@optimization
the ships are available form the beginning because of testing issues I guess.
Fighters are a performancekiller...thats why the stacks are so small.
There were many more ships in the unstable versions of VP, I think Arachno or Dirt will add them if they dont make the game unstable again.
@Researchpoints
You can build a researchcenter to get more RP or use Recyclers.
But in general I would prefere a changed techtree instead of changed RP :)

This mode is first my try for campaign. First mission is almost done and it need only remove timers, which are for quick testing. And next mission is not complete yet, That is a reason, why you are failed from beginning.

As concerning auto-terraforming of planets to volcanic:
You are playing with the Galactic Empire.
Empire = Kariak
Rebel = Human
Pirate = Darzok
Unfortunately the use of this planet line is pretty much hardcoded. Dirtbag tried to get a new planet type to function, I'm unsure about his results.

The research list:
When it gets too big, use the arrows to scroll down. I guess it is pretty self-explanatory.

The big star wars map:
Yep, that's my work. I will look into adding an extra mineable asteroid into every system, -if- there is no other resource in that system available. I made the map so long time ago, I do not remember.

dirtbag007 Jul 8 2008, 7:34am says:

well, I got it to function, and it worked. But it just needed new textures. I previously used the gaia class texture.

The planet would simulate Coruscant. While it gives a huge production and population boost, morale is lower due to lack of nature. The lower morale counters the high population capacity and high production which comes with it. With lower morale, populations will not grow fast (IIRC basic morale was about 30 or 40, which makes populations not grow naturally, so you need to build entertainment facilities to increase morale).

It worked, just need to figure out how to make new textures for it.

It's just what i was after and i have played a few of the sci-fi rts.
SOSE is good but this i prefer for more of the 4X side of things.
Anyway i am trying to get the in game editor to work but it keeps crashing anyone know what its prob is as is seems quite a few people had the same prob and i would really like to make some maps.
I can get them to work in Irons but can't the Solon ones to work.
Thanks. This is a good mod and well done
