Gunman Chronicles is a futuristic first-person shooter computer game using the Half-Life game engine. It was originally planned as a total conversion for Quake; it then switched games to Quake II, followed by another switch to Half-Life, before being spotted by Valve Software and released as a stand-alone retail product in 2000.
I have just finished this game and I liked it! Too bad nobody sells this game anymore, maybe it could have gained more popularity. All the levels are quite nice, ranging from space stations, jungles, metal bases, deserts, research facilities...new and beautiful characters like dinosaurs, robots, aliens, humans! A good story, a great intro level and a fantastic ending! The AI does the boss fight while you have to protect him from the enemies. It was a very creative ending! The weapon customization system is also innovative but becomes a little difficult and boring after a while. I usually only used 3-4 customization types and also made a standard customization type for every weapon, rarely changing it. The enemies AI isn't as good as the marines in Half-Life, but still challenging. Sadly nobody sells it since 2000, it is a really nice game.
