A strategic management game, best described as a sci-fi tower defence game with moving spaceships and configurable units. Design your own ships from a series of hulls+modular components, group the ships into a fleet, give the fleet orders and positions and then watch it engage in OTT gratuitous space battles against enemy fleets.

If you catch them at the wrong time the parasites are a race to be reckoned with. Every 200 years or so they travel the galaxy looking for new hosts, and we're not suggesting that this is a race that excels at making people feel welcome at parties. The hosts they are looking for will provide the much more vital role of keeping the parasites' immature larvae alive and prospering.

The parasites always go too far, they never did get the idea of mutualism and they never have pets (for long). So now they are venturing forth from their adopted home planet and in search of a cognate species which breeds freely and is able to give birth at least once per year, with a good growth rate and preferably (although a bit of crunch is acceptable) without an exoskeleton. They have had 198 years to upgrade their battle fleet in between breeding and snacking and now want to change the menu. Mmm how tasty are you?

sci-fi tower defence?
oh COME ON,that description is completely misleading

you could say its a scifi combat puzzle,a fleet management game, heck you could even say its a regular RTS and it would be more accurate...

this gives people a completely wrong idea about this great game

I don't understand why you find this such an odd description? Tower Defense games are about deciding which "towers" are the right one judging the enemy's units and then trying to place them in a strategical way. That's pretty much what this game does, and it's absolutely great too!

He's generally right. Tower Defense is when you guess what's coming next, set up -stationary- towers, and are defending a base.

Matching two fleets against one another is more puzzle-like than Tower Defense, which is more just blind planning.

I believe it is used in the generic sense of "tower defense" as a genre.

At first I really liked this game... especially for the price I payed. Then it started to feel really monotonous and excessively difficult to a point where I felt like throwing something out a window. Even though you can set a lot of peramiters on how the AI behaves, the AI is still pretty stupid. You can't intervene AT ALL and have to just sit back and watch the battles, which is the most annoying thing I've ever experienced. It wouldn't be so bad if the AI wasn't so stupid, but still I want to…
