Even if they did get it to work, Rockstar would stop them. Just like Remedy stopped the hampsters from doing MP to Max Payne.
definite hoax. all MP is on the game engine, which isn't.
hey nrmiles, actually, as many modders have seen, inside 1 of the image files is a bunch of mp menu stuff, including a "powered by gamespy" image, which leaves some to believe that r* either halted development of mp, or just planned on seeing how gta3 would play normally with the public and would resume development of it for a later patch.
theres also some french modders who claim they have made a working mp mod, but its still in development, everyone but them will have to wait to see if its a hoax or reality.
RockStar totally screwed up by not putting in any multiplayer support, they had around 8 months to think of something, and they blew it. Still, a very good game, but the pc version could have been ten times better.

100% with you mate... GTA2 multiplayer kicked absolute butt! Id just grab myself a flamethrower and no one could get near :)
I hope future releases bring back the multiplayer aspect... and yeah hopefully it would not run to slowly
absolutely sweet game, but shot itself in the foot with no MP support, what a stuff up! was there any greater laugh than plowing over your friends while they were on foot in your 200k/ph Banshee in gta2?? could have been so much more with MP....
