Sumerian Blood: Gilgamesh Against the Gods, is a strategy+action game. You play strategy on a board but when pieces step on the same place a battle screen opens and they duel to the death. Sumerian Blood is loosly based on mesopotamian mythology and history. There will be both single player(Human Vs PC) and multiplayer(Over network or in the same machine).

I would like to do that at smoe point, yes.
Since you asked, Fwiw, I don't think it is the graphics but the genre, Turn Based Strategy games are not very popular. People prefer to be more engaged.
Not to butt in but, I beg to differ. Turn based strategy games are one of the most "engaging" forms of games for example: X com,jagged alliance,the Total war series, and them not being popular? look at civilization. just saying.

The thing is, this is not entirely a strategy game. It's a mix between strategy and action.
I think it's a very fun game once you get familiar with it. People might not understand what's the big deal before passing the initial learning curve.
Of course, multiplayer with an appropriate challange is what it's all about.

If I may ask, what programming language and SDK do you use? C++ / DirectX?
It's C++ plus different replaceable modules(basically dlls).
So now I have for the(2D) graphics both an DX9 implementation and an SFML.
Someone without DX9 could use the SFML implementation and vice versa.
