Discover one of the most beautiful but also most hostile environments in the world, Africa. You are sent to this war-torn region to assassinate the Jackal, a mysterious arms dealer who has rekindled conflict between local warlords, jeopardizing thousands of lives.

In order to fulfill your mission you will have to become a gun for hire, trapped in a war-torn African state stricken with malaria, and forced to make deals with corrupt warlords on both sides of the conflict in order to make this country your home.

Play the warring factions against each other, identify and exploit their weaknesses, and neutralize their superior numbers with surprise, subversion, cunning and, of course, brute force.

About Far Cry 2 - Graphical Enhancement Suite with 2 comments by Senescent on Jan 6th, 2015

After neglecting this page for quite sometime I've decided to clean everything up a bit. The biggest change is that I've moved GES to a newer version of SweetFX. This should allow it to be used on all versions of FC2. (Including the Steam Fortune Edition!) I've removed a bunch of old comments regarding technical issues as they should be fixed. Just make sure you have your game running on DirectX 9.

A common complaint about GES in the past is that the game is too dark with the mod installed. This is due to the nature of FC2 and the method I've used to create this mod. The default brightness, contrast, and gamma settings can look a bit wonky even on properly calibrated monitors. I suggest tweaking these values in-game until you achieve your desired result. Personally I only need to bump gamma up a bit and then everything looks fantastic. However, everybody's results will differ. Just experiment!

I've also re-cut the original trailer which you can view below.

I hope you enjoy the mod and your time spent in colorful Africa!

Are there any mods which let you put NPC's in the map editor for off-line play? because that would be awesome!
its highly ridicules that the map editor doesn't already support this feature!

Posted a stronger weapons mod (because they are rather low damaging in default game) hopefully it gets through. Plus it also has a link to the unpacker I used to edit the game. Then you will be able to change it yourself. I'd post the link here but I can't.

I really love the atmosphere of that game, the setting, etc.
But there are some issues, enemies simply disappeared and I was still in combat, what was quite annoying, the end was held too simple, etc.

On the other hand, it was awesome, after you had quite a collection of firearms, special weaponry, etc. , that you could change your loadout every time after your mood, weapons were realistic, and the missions were sometimes really great!

Good game with many small annoying problems such as AI inconsistencies, enemies too powerful, no prone, no toggle sights, no leaning and more emphasis on traveling instead of shooting.

Am I right in assuming that it seems kinda random to call this Far Cry 2, a sequel that really has nothing to do with the first one except gameplay maybe??

imo they just slaped Far Cry on the cover so people would buy it because they would of course associate the name with the rumble in the jungle which was Far Cry 1

this is a ok game, i bought this to make maps and play online... single player was a extreme disappointment. Has NOTHING to do with the first epic far cry :( no mutants. The graphics are very good i must say. all in all it scraped 5/10.. if only usbisoft made editing ai a little easier :(

You're given the false impression that you can make choices in this game, but no matter WHAT you choose to do in this game, the ending will always be the same... which really sucks.

Also, it has nothing at all to do with Far Cry AT ALL. So yes, they were trying to cash in on a name and had no intention of making Far Cry 2. It would be better as a standalone game.

Graphics, game play, AI, environments all great, vehicles are fun, story isn't bad. Didn't feel there were enough rifles, shotguns, and pistols. No weapon accessories! The dart rifle breaks CONSTANTLY!! Go for a swim with it and it'll blow up in your face, but still the best weapon for quiet ranged take downs.

Also you are FORCED to carry certain weapons in certain slots... so there are hundreds of weapon combinations you CANNOT use. So if you want to carry a great sniper rifle with a particular gun as backup that you really want to take with you, sorry but most likely it won't let you. So they basically took a big dump on sniper class players. Far cry 1 had only 4 slots, but at least you could carry any weapon you wanted in ANY slot you wanted!

Ubisoft made no effort to release an SDK for this game, so basically they gave the modding community a big middle finger. The community has a petition going, trying to get Ubisoft to release an SDK, but I don't think they'll ever release it. To be honest, Ubisoft is run by a bunch of money grubbing douches, which is why the Cryteam left them in the first place. They couldn't give any less of a crap about us or the modding community.

The only reason I bought it, was because steam had it for 50% off. I wouldn't buy this crap game any other way, but to be honest I enjoyed it. ONCE. I played it once, it kept me busy for a good amount of time, and I see no reason to play it again. Because no choices you make have any impact on the outcome, there's no replay value at all. Only buy this game if you can get it cheap or free.

Yea, the ending was one of the biggest loads ive ever seen, besides Borderlands. you died either way cause a guy told you to? neither death was glorious, and were dumb.

Brilliant game from a very good game developer company. If you love open world games, especially FPS games, then this would be something that you will love. This game throws you into a hostile environment and basically anything can kill you; from malaria to hang-glider crashes. You will have to survive by relying on the only few weapons you have that can be by times, not really reliable after all, and as well as your buddies that can bust you out of a firefight when needed. This game is in my opinion…
