Combat is intimate and detailed, and failure has great consequences. Every expedition member has a face, a past, a set of personality traits, and of course a combat role - their morale will change depending on your decisions, they will chime in when you're weighing your options, and if they fall in battle, their injuries will carry over to the world map, where they must be treated by your doctors until they're back on their feet. Should you fail to treat your expedition members, they will die and be gone for good.
Choice and consequence is central to the play experience of Conquistador. As the leader of the expedition, you will face difficult decisions about the use of your troops and your resources, as well as how to engage with the factions of the savage New World. Will you defy history and be a diplomatic envoy of peace? Or will you be a ruthless conqueror determined to lay all of the Aztec Empire at your feet?

After latest update (1.4.5) game does work fine on Linux with Desura client for the first time. Thanks for that!
The game crashes often after adjusting the camera on the world-screen (didn't try during battle). (It is the tar.gz 1.4 version (64bit) on Ubuntu 12.04 with Unity) Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Hi there!
I would like to buy me this game for linux, but I'm unsecure because of these "1.4-version not working anymore" - talk. Also I would like to get it DRM-free too. Could you please make clear:
Is it working on Linux with Desura?
If I buy through Desura, will I get a DRM-free copy for backup too? Or if not: Whre can I get one (for linux)?
Thanks! Game looks great so far!
PS: If this sounds weird, sorry.... this is not my native language
Well, the Desura version has some minor technical issues (pointed below), which prevent it to work out of box for Linux users. I am still waiting for response from developers if they are going to fix this.
Anyway game is DRM free and after buying it, you can just download tar.gz archive from this page, unpack it and run game. The game itself is great.
Thanks for the answer! DRM-free archive sounds great....
For Linux:
There is now desura_launch_Play.sh file and default launch path include spacebar in the name of the file so I am unable to run it frought Desurium client. Also files ExpeditionsConquistador.x86 and ExpeditionsConquistador.x86_64 are not marked as executable by default.
The game is great, but those minor technical issues make me fill like developers do not care about clients. Please fix it.
We can't. Not as far as I know, anyway. The original files we uploaded had no spaces in the name, it seems like the Desura client added it.
You are right. Files do not have spaces, but Desura command to run them still has:
Imageshack.us
Also in my situation it would not start anyway, because files were not marked as executable.
Thanks for the interest in this issue. The game is great and it contrasts a lot with those minor technical issues, so I really hope, that you can sort them out.
Are Desura and Gamersgate versions localized in Italian?
Thanks.
Yes, any outlet that gives you version 1.4.0 will include the Italian localisation. Note that currently the auto-updater version for Windows on Desura is 1.0.0 because of technical difficulties, but you can download the DRM-free stand-alone which is 1.4.0 (and therefore also Italian).
Thanks!
