A new war is brewing. A violent conflict, between the Six Colonies, each one convinced that it was in the right, each one sure of its own ability to defeat its enemies. But they need Generals. They need soldiers. They need you.

Your computer has issues with Desura? If your computer has issues with Desura, it will most certainly have issues with the game, don't you think?

Short answer, you can't. You can go over to the spring site at Springrts.com and download the engine and do everything manually, but what you get when doing that is far below subpar.

should have checked the firewall/antivirus before posting.... that problem was fixed. Awesome game and i believe we talked in the chat....

Any chance for offline mode or is Spring not set up that way?

Eventually, and singleplayer missions are coming, but at the moment the lobby does not have the capability for you to host your own games (and when it does get the ability, players will need to forward their ports).

All in good time. Supposedly next engine version will allow for static linux builds, so evo on linux desura will actually happen.

Any idea when Spring and (if) Evolution will be fully released on Mac OS X?

That's a good question actually. I suppose the answer is multifaceted.

When the osx release of the engine is no longer experimental, and when I have either a mac or someone with a mac to test it for me.

My nephew is 10 and has a macbook for school and has been after me for a long time about it, but unfortunately his school locks down what he can actually do with his mac so I can't really use it as a testbed. And I don't know if I'm dedicated enough to figure out how to get osx to run in a vm.

To be completely honest, Linux is the highest priority, and it looks like linux will turn into a realization upon next engine version as there will be a static build of the engine, so that's something to be happy about.

That said, you can grab the experimental version of the engine for OSX here: Springrts.com

And grab notalobby (the multiplayer lobby) for osx here: Springrts.com

And smooshing those two together you might be able to play, but no guarantees. Sorry i don't have a better answer for you :-(

This is not normal spring. This is a standalone install (think left4dead as opposed to halflife and CSS).

You don't have to do anything. It's all set up for you form the getgo. Just log in, and play.

For the sake of curiosity, care to expand upon your comment?

thats much better. i just find it overly complicated. its been a long time. ive tryed to play ta games on it but it woudl take forever to find dl then when i did would ask me to put it somewhere or it would be a launcher then i lauch the launcher nad it asks what ai to use and most of them just crash the game. and then when playing and enjoying it b4 long the ai makes a super weapon and blows me up ruining the game for me...

Highest Rated (6 agree) 9/10

Some people might find the complexity of play in the multiplayer to be intimidating, but once you really understand it you will be able to appreciate the gameplay that rivals top commercial RTS's.

Not to mention, being completely free, the price is right. All that currently lacks is an active player community.
