Basically, you are using the wrong spring version. There is a version later than the one you have. I can't explain to you how much better off you'll be by waiting for the desura release.

Hopefully this isn't another mod of spring where they all look the same.

It's a full fledged game... How did you mis that part? Also, it isn't a "mod".

Did you watch the vids, look at the screenshots or go to the website?

Hey, could anyone give me a small idea of how this game plays? Is it anything like Starcraft or Red Alert? Because it looks amazing.

Well I had written a HUGE comment, then realized that it only allows for 2000 characters.

It is similar to both in certain aspects, but completely different in other ways. For example, as a newbie the game will not punish you for tiny mistakes like in sc2. Your armies are more or less unlimited in size. The gameplay and graphics are phenominal. Features a dynamic cover system (that is if the game sees map features a vegitation for example, your units will game stealth from radar). Dynamic unit damage textures (I haven't finished implementing this yet, but it will be there soon). Incremental updates happen often, so if there is a bug or an exploit, it gets fixed generally within minutes instead of on a monthly patch cycle or something silly like that (blizzard, I'm staring at you.). Each tech has it's own special abilities and weaknesses (eg, hovers go over water, have a very robust unit diversity, amphibious units are very fast and are stealthed from radar, all-terrain units have the ability to cloak (including the factory), actual physics system, beautiful weapon effects and textures, etc etc etc.

Suffice it to say, you WILL have a lot of fun playing this game. :-)

No need to pm them.

The min specs that you need to run the game with all the bells and whistles on (not including dynamic water... seriously, dynamic water doesn't even look as good as bumpmapped anyway...):

3 ghz dual core cpu
4 gb ram
Nvidia 9 Series video card (or ATI equivalent, but ATI hates OpenGL so your mileage may vary)

^^ those will allow you to run the game with the normal maps, shaders, bumpmapped water, reflective units, shadows, etc... Basically, the game can't get much better looking that what you can get with those settings.

Lowest I would go CPUwise is a 2 ghz, and if you have an older series nvidia card you can get a pretty decent framerate by disabling some of the more advanced graphics stuffs. If you have an integrated video card, you can prolly run it on the absolute minimum settings, but no guarantees.

Highest Rated (5 agree) 9/10

Some people might find the complexity of play in the multiplayer to be intimidating, but once you really understand it you will be able to appreciate the gameplay that rivals top commercial RTS's.

Not to mention, being completely free, the price is right. All that currently lacks is an active player community.
