Ernie vs Evil hosts a variety of weapons. Each one has an interesting effect based on the rate of fire. One of these lovely instruments of dismemberment that we provide is the shotgun but wait this one is different.
The shotgun has a much slower fire rate and significantly shorter range than the other guns. In order to make up for this it lays down a horrific spread of destruction. This is a common thing in most shooter games, and you might be wonder just what it does to set it apart. In Ernie vs Evil the shotgun is the only weapon that can shoot between lanes to hit multiple enemies at a time.
The shotgun works especially well when you have exploding enemies in range so you can shower the screen with chunks of gore. Be careful though, since the gun meter recharges much slower along with the inherently slow firerate of the shotgun, so you will have to time your shots much more carefully to reap the benefits or be punished with a wall of grotesque monsters.
