You’re only hope to escape is the mother ship stored in the main alien stronghold. You must capture alien towers to weaken their main stronghold, so you can break in and steal the mothership. Place defenses such as turrets to protect towers you’ve captured. Upgrade your suit with a jetpack to fly around the battlefield, or boost your armor and tank all the damage you want! Customize your character to suit your play style! Cast spells to burn, freeze, or electrocute your enemies! Take the fight online with up to 7 friends!

Check out giant drills, spawn culling algorithms, mood lighting and more in this week's alpha preview of Eris!

It’s great to be back at work, I never knew how much I would miss it until Hurricane Sandy took out my power for a week.

This week we implemented the giant drills that power the main alien tower. I’ve always been fascinated by sound design, so I had a lot of fun making the sounds for the drill. It’s far and away the biggest sound design challenge I’ve taken on thus far, and it came out pretty well. Travis still has some texture work to do on it, but it’s shaping up quite nicely!

Travis also made a bunch of new modular pieces including brand new doors!

I also implemented a new spawn culling algorithm, which should help prevent enemies being spawned when they are not needed.

To make the game a tad more original, I would add some variety in every tower, and drilling station. It's more work, but maybe you could make preset sections and a random algorithm for assembling certain sections to allow each tower a new feel but same familiarity.
