On arrival back to our own solar system, you find Earth has been colonized by a hostile alien force. It's now up to you, with the help of your mothership, the Ensign-1, to take it back Ensign-1 allows allows for complete freedom in approaching objectives. You can fight from the safety of your spacecraft, or land and exit to explore space stations and carriers on foot. You can commandeer any spacecraft in the game, no matter how big or how small. Defend an asteroid base, or take the fight to the enemy with a huge mothership, friends manning turrets, it's your choice. The game also features a multiplayer mode where players can explore a randomly generated galaxy, either fighting co-operatively to clean out enemy fighters, or battling each other for supremacy.

This game either needs some unknown code to make it playable or it is just that: unplayable! I tried playing on single (rookie) player, at least 15 times and I could not hit even 1 enemy ship!? The guns are limited to how many shots they fire and then you have to wait till they recharge! All the while the enemy is shooting the crap out of you! I keep asking: WTF is this crap?...The truth is, it is not a game you can hop on and start playing! I probably needed to go on forums to learn the secret of playing this game! But if that is the case, then beware of this game: It is NOT a game you play for fun! Fun rating: ZERO (0)...I just wasted my money.

Bought it, not playable at all here, extreme choppiness.

Pretty standard setup, Debian Squeeze amd64, backported kernel 3.2.0 and nvidia proprietary 295.59.

Why I did this? This is what playing it is like. First, I don't see any instructions. It takes a few minutes to even figure out how to do anything. Then, taking ANY ACTION (docking, manning a turret, starting a mission, etc) makes it not respond and I have to wait for something that shoud be instant. I start mission 1, and the text goes by at 2 letters per second while the voice is at normal speed. Even the cursor is laggy. I undock for the first time and I see that the textures are completely messed up. Things overlap, flicker, etc. Even the first object slows the game to half speed, and the momentum while turning and manouvering makes it impossible to pilot. Then it decides to speed up, but to something too fast to be practical. It slows down later of course. I finally blow up the communications base, and the explosion takes 30 seconds, at practically 2 frames per second. It takes a long time for something to happen after it says "mission complete". Same thing on mission 2, but when disembarking the ship, I randomly find myself on the roof. Then I fall through the floor and off of the map. Definately not a good first impression. Oh, and one more thing? It won't save anything. I have a very modern computer; it's not the problem.
