Just a couple of quick tips for new players.

Get EVERYTHING! be as thourough as possible. Grabbing the towns will give you more money for the next game.

Let new units Live, if they die before the round is over, you may not be able to recruit them in the future.

Grab the high ground! Archers, and projectile units especially. On hills they will cover your other troops from being attacked.

Save a LOT and experement. some towns are not worth much, others give you new units and spells. Some games have only a few turns to win them so try to grab the most valuble ones first.

Split up! grabbing smaller settlements does not always require your entire force. you can cover a lot of ground very fast if there are 2 or more parties. hand to hand + projectile unit is the smalles group you should have.

If a quest is too hard, you may have to revert back a map or 2 to make sure you get enough units and gold for future missions. It is very easy to get to an unplayable ppoint from not having enough power to complete the missions.

actually getting through the maps in as few turns as possible is the way to go.

I would have reather have bought all of thease here for the NO-DRM feature.

Very fun game, I just re-installed it last night. I even made an Xpadder profile for my Xbox 360 controller so I can play it with 1 hand for the most part.

Not a bad retial price. I got all of them on Steam for around $9 I think on one of their insane seasonal sales.
Just installe it last night and have been very happy with it so far.

Some other games you guys might like if you like this one:
Kings bounty series.
Heros of might and magic series
Fantasy Wars

Can you guys suggest any other games like thease? I am definately in the market for them right now.

Elven Legacy is definately on the top of my list for this sort of gameplay. A must have for any turn based ,hex grid combat game.

Not the greatest kill animations , but they are still satisfying. 10/10

i dont honestly think this is better than HOMM but it is up there. drakensang (not online) is good but not quite the same and jowood makes a space based game that is essentially homm in space but i cant remember the name (they have too many space ranger/force games for me to remember) jowood made several strategy games in their day though.

This is a great series here, and like many previous Paradox titles (and unlike several of the most recent Paradox releases), this one is available DRM-free. I was actually quite interested in picking up "Warlock: Master of the Arcane" from GamersGate a few weeks back, only to see that they opted for Steamworks. If I wanted it on Steam, I'd probably buy it on Steam.

Now, I already have Elven Legacy Collection from GamersGate, but I thought I would ask on behalf of anybody visiting this page for clarification on whether or not the Desura version is DRM-free. I would presume that it is, but it never hurts to ask, yes?
