Enjoy a little Willerworm

We figured it was high time we update the community on where the new patch stands, and why it’s not in the hands of players yet. The simple answer is setbacks. The team has had a series of issues arise, from a fried hard drive, to emergency oral surgery and allergies. We’ve been soldiering on through it, but in the end, it’s caused some unforeseen delays in the patch getting completed and rolled out. Don’t let it worry you, the work on the patch has continued, and everything is coming together very well. Our aim isn’t just to get these features functioning, it’s to get them polished and enjoyable, so that the game’s quality continues to get better and better. We aren’t going to set an exact date for this to roll out right now, but it’s coming closer all the time, and with any luck the wait is almost over. We really appreciate everyone’s patience over the last couple of weeks. This has been our longest dev cycle to date, but it’s also the most ambitious overhaul we’ve done to this point. Hang in there, guys, it’s going to be worth the wait!

Over the last couple of weeks, as the patch has gotten closer, we have mentioned a number of things that are coming out with this patch. While we’re on the subject of updates, we want to point out the most major change to come, the introduction of true singleplayer. The days of running multiple instances to play singleplayer will be a thing of the past, and we know many people will be very excited to hear that. Along with this, however, we will be disabling multiplayer capability for a short time, to allow us to focus beta testing on the singleplayer functionality. Multiplayer is a big thing to everyone, and we assure you, we will keep the time without it as short as possible. We ask that everyone bear with us and help pound out all the bugs when the time comes, and help us ensure that the singleplayer experience is as solid as the multiplayer.

On a brighter note, we will be livestreaming again this Saturday night at 7PM Eastern, and giving everyone a chance to see previews of the patch. The community has been growing very rapidly now, and we know quite a few people missed the stream several weeks ago. We hope everyone will come and hang out with us and check it out! We’re always happy to answer questions and get you guys up to date on what’s going on with the game. Once again, a big thank you to our awesome community for your patience and hanging with us during all of this quiet from the team!

Alrighty, I gotta ask, why are the game files password protected? You're freaking out my antivirus. XP

Okay, your reviews are really kindof suspicious. All 10's and a single 2? Seems pretty unlikely, you guys might be creating fake accounts or something to get a high rating or something? Not a single 7? Not a single 8? Not a single 9?

I was about to purchase this game until I went through your reviews now I'm a bit leery.

That said, the game does look pretty interesting and right down my alley...
If I were to purchase on Desura, will I get a Steam key upon greenlight? That would likely seal the deal for me and others I'm sure.

I gotta agree with you. I bought mostly because of the raving reviews and had to find my way to the game forums just to find out how to start the game in single player. You must start one instance of the game as the server and another instance of the game to join "localhost."

I don't seem to have any sounds in the game. No gun sounds, no digging sounds. Will have to investigate. I won't pass judgment yet in case it is my settings.

It does look like a really good game and I will post a review hopefully in the next couple of weeks. Probably a short review but a fair score considering it is still alpha. I hope it turns out as good as Terraria because that game sucked up some serious gaming hours.

If this turns out that good - I will buy multiple copies for family and friends. I love running a little Terraria or Minecraft server and this looks like a lot of fun.

Also, did you not try try the "beta guide" tab in the launcher? It gives you a direct link to a youtube video I made to walk you through starting the game up.

Mik3k, thank you for understanding the stage of the game. I know you've seen my other post most likely, but I do invite you to come hang out in our IRC and participate with the community. We are very community driven.

- The reason you have to do the double start up has to do with being built from the ground up as multiplayer. Without going into it too deeply, it means even in single player you are interacting with the server the same way it would multiplayer. But when we create the single player version, the easiest way to explain it, is that the server is then emulated. But we need testing with it not in an emulated state.

- Yes, there are no sounds in the game currently as sounds can some times give superficial good feelings about a mechanic, something looks, ect. We have been very focused on mechanics, function, and feeling of the game and it is easier to point out things that are wrong with no sound. But we have been amassing our SFX for deployment when the time comes.

- Please feel free again to contact me any time in the IRC for any other questions and I also am more than happy to do any interviews and answer questions.

we have a huge built in community from kickstarter and all of the people gained over the last 5 months of development, so there are people ready to jump in and vote for us. Its as simple as that.

Hey! jeremiah. I would suggest coming and hanging out the IRC and talk to some of the people playing the game. We have not created any fake accounts, and we do have a 9 actually i just can't remember which row it is on. We are extremely active with our community and you can tell here in comments we do our best to reach out.

We are still working on the logistics of steam key upon greenlight. But it is something we would like to do.

Edge of Space is already a fantastic game, and getting better every day. The amount of progress since Day 1 beta back in June is absolutely staggering, and I can't wait to watch it get even better

Not really impressed by this so far, I think I might stick with starbound when it comes out soon, since the developers are already almost going to release it soon! This game wasn't much of a bang for your buck and wish I didn't spend the money.
