Hello again from the quaint countryside offices of Flix!

We're currently showing the pre-alpha demo at EGX Rezzed in Birmingham, and will be until Sunday, so if you're in the area, why not come over for a look, and chat with some of the devs! It's a great event, and we're all very impressed at the quality and creativity of the other Indie games on display. There's a huge variety of cool ideas, so we encourage everyone who can to check them out in this vibrant showroom setting! It's an experience you can't really recreate at home.

The SplinterMite

You may remember this post from a while ago when we revealed the concept art for our first ground-based enemy, the SplinterMite. Since then, we've been doing a lot of other work on the game, but we certainly haven't neglected our ugly little friend! The model and textures have been polished up to final game level, and the animations have been developed ready for the AI to be implemented. Right now, they've barely got any AI controlling them, but it's great fun to see them running around the level, and even more fun to blast them and throw them around the landscape!

Have a good look at the sexy, but horrible 3D visage of the little beast! We'll be making some videos of the SpliterMite in-world and scurrying around, so stay tuned for more!

The SplinterMite will be able to burrow into the soft earth, and tunnel undetected, unless you force them to surface again. Your structures will be built on sturdy foundations, which the Splintermite cannot burrow through, so the design of your base will help protect yourself from these pack-hunters!

Though the SplinterMite is small (about the size of a Labrador, if a Labrador had chitinous armour plates, stabbing blades for legs, and a powerful beak ), but they tend to be found moving in packs, and can have unpredictable aggressive behaviour.

Congrats. Great new video too! Just curious though, why make the project about Eden Star: Pre-Alpha and not just Eden-Star, with eventually a Steam Early Access type early alpha release? It seems like a separate project in this way, unless you can later just rename it to Eden Star when the time comes rather than make an all new separate Steam entry for it.

Also, are you implying you'll release the pre-alpha/demo as soon as it's approved through Greenlight? It's not really explicitly stated so you might want to be more clear about it.

Thanks GamesInquirer! The Greenlight name can be changed/renamed when we need to as you say. One of the joys of being indipendant is that we do not have to commit to a date on the pre-alpha tech demo quite just yet... but, we will be showing it off to the public really soon along with bugs, no optimisation/properly balanced gameplay and it will only include basic features (although I think it's still pretty fun to play right now!) - it will be there with all it's beautiful warts on show and then downloadable eventually too :)

Just wow! one question have you tryed out for greenlight on steam, you would be chosen for sure this game looks amazing even at this stage. look forward to playing a product :P

Uh hey, been tracking for sometime, but I just realized something. Recently (few months back) heard about Leap Motion, and just receieved mine a few days back. It was a bit odd in the beginning, and there is a lack of apps atm, but the accuracy of the device is incredible (within 4 ft). Could you guys possibly develop support for it?
I mean its cheap enough to be considered just another mouse/controller, so a lot of gamers might pick it up and it doesnt take up much space.

We have a long term dream to make the game free to play and with a solid reason to do so (this has been FULLY designed and mapped out and we believe it would work really well as a fun and involving experience) - mainly to help us to continue funding the project in harmony with those playing it. In reality we are currently also planning for a pay to play title with options to purchase additional content with little/no restrictions on the content.
