Duke Nukem will bring his signature brand of babe-lovin', cigar-smoking, beer-chugging and ass-kicking action as he once again saves the Earth and our babes from hordes of invading aliens...next year.

UPDATED WITH TRAILER

It's time we all take a moment here to take a deep breathe, because tomorrow we will be facing a small taste of the very long awaited Duke Nukem Forever, which will be released in the afternoon, central time. George Broussard posted information on 3D Realm's forum which can be located here.

"Last Saturday we had our annual company Christmas party. It was a lot of fun as usual but it featured one special surprise. It turns out that several people had been secretly working late nights and into the wee hours of the morning preparing a special video for those at the party. They created a short teaser for Duke Nukem Forever.

After seeing the teaser we thought it was something we should share with all of you and while it's just a teaser, rest assured more is coming.

Tomorrow, Wednesday the 19th, around noon CST, we will release the first teaser trailer from Duke Nukem Forever. To tide you over until then, here is a screen shot taken from the teaser."

In preparation for the release, Broussard also posted a screenshot from the teaser and promises future media over time.

I think it's time to go pump some iron and chew some bubble gum.

Yeah, but at the same time if they really mess it up this time or else there'll be tons and tons of angry gamers haha

I don't think so. Gamers are too predictable and if they managed to postpone things until now without heaps of raging fans storming their office it won't happen in the future ;)

hmm graphically it looks like something that was thrown together (the duke avatar) i mean it looks like a UT99 model with a normal map applied.

i know! It's very strange that because usually people love being called idiots! I'm amazed that it didn't generate a positive response :-P Maybe you should go the whole hog and call them Braindead-ignorant-fanboys-boneheads, im sure that'll get people back in your favour lol

NSC - Not sure what the engine is, though I havent kept up to speed with DNF's development I think last reports (ie 2001 perhaps) stated they were using heavily modded Unreal Tech, but who knows. Personally i thought it looked more like JupiterEx but it could very well be inhouse.

Modified UE2 engine. The only difference is that it uses a new Rendering Engine and the Mequon physics.

I'm glad to see some actual substance other than some postal-stamp pics.

I just hope that we get a fun, over-the-top shooter with our favorite one-liner spewing protagonist. Serious Sam finally has competition.

Has anyone lese noticed that there has been no similar shooter in years. Well I heard Prey was a bit like old Duke, but it's still not the same. No other game after Duke Nukem 3d has had squareheaded mr.Muscle with dirty mouth as an main character. Modern heroes in films and games don't have big muscles, bad manners and dirty mouth.

No, they have not because modern games tend to have boobies featuring women with next to no cloth on and an intelligence coefficient below the freezing point.
