Drox Operative Mod SDK
Apr 15, 2013 SDK 0 commentsThis SDK has a lot of documentation on how to mod Drox Operative, a few example mods, and a few tools (font/model related).
Drox Operative is a starship action RPG with warring alien races, fierce space battles, a dynamic, evolving galaxy, and co-op multiplayer.
Eons ago the Drox ruled the galaxy through their mighty Operatives. These elite starship captains were trained to accomplish the impossible at whatever cost necessary. Whether employing stealth or brute force, they were always deadly. Using these Operatives, the Drox built a starlane system for quick travel amongst the stars, colonized and conquered millions of planets, and ruled the galaxy with an iron grip for over 100,000 years. Eventually realizing their Operatives were a threat, they attempted to assassinate all of them. They failed. The following Galactic Civil War was devastating.
Thousands of years later, the Drox are extinct, but the secretive Drox Operative guild lives on. They have learned their lesson though: loyalty to any one race is foolish. They now work for whoever can pay. And pay they do! Empires might span hundreds of planets and thousands of ships, but when a critical task arises, they still turn to an Operative.
In the new space race, the major races are scouting, colonizing, and expanding, trying to take over the galaxy by diplomacy, technology, war, or any other means their scheming minds can contemplate. As a Drox Operative it's NOT your job to manage all of those annoying people, build thousands of buildings, play nice with your enemies, or balance the budget. It IS your job to pick the winning side and maybe even help them conquer the galaxy if you're being nice, more importantly though is to rake in as many credits as possible, well that and build the coolest, deadliest ship in the known universe. Not many screw with an Operative captaining a Dreadnaught!

We have released the 1.011 patch for Drox Operative. Since the last official patch, the patch patch balances things better and fixes a bunch of smaller things.
Here's all of the changes for patch 1.011.

When playing hardcore Drox Operative, having an attack fleet destroy your escape pod, computers, and thrusters is very, very bad. :)

@RyanFox Releasing actual numbers is always a gamble to how other companies will respond (deals lost or gained).

Any planes for a RTS type version of this game? I'm loving the rpg style of leveling my ship and all, but would love to be in command of one of the races fighting for the galaxy. :3
RTS and RPG are totally different; there are plenty of RTS around, while RPG development have been getting fewer, so please let us keep a few of those...
I'm not saying anything bad in anyway about the game nor am I saying anything bad or ignorant about the rpg genre as a whole. I have been play RPG games since the old snes days when they finally became popular over here in America enough for the companies to actually make them over here. I still play Chrono Trigger and Earthbound on my snes. I am only saying I would like to see an rts styling of this game. I do like this game, I was just asking.
Any plans for a Linux version?
why the crap is there no internet servers ever . please instruct me of how there is a way to find people to play with on the internet maltiplayer option?
game seems good i was just shocked at the lack of internet maltiplayer. navigating to another area seems a bit expensive . overall I SAY THE GAME IS WORTH CHECKING OUT . It must not be finished at least i hope so if the internet servers are always down. I have to say I was truly expecting some co op internet play. my first comment was from the frustration of just buying the game and not being able to fint internet servers to play with other people and ask questions about the game and whats cool about it.
you run a server if you want to play with friends.. they just put in your ip and a pass word.
I am currently running version 1004... and trying to install the new update... for some reason it doesn't want to do so. It keeps popping up an error message. If I go to your website and download the patch, then try and install it to the Desura installation path... it gives yet another error.
After uninstalling it from Desura... it now will not let me re-install it. Some error about unable to verify. Any help on what is causing this to not work?
To anyone that was looking into this problem... thank you. It seems to be fixed now. I was able to re-install via Desura, and the version shows up as v1007. Again... thank you.
Email the developer and ask; no one needs to know ;
We may even end up seeing the game in one of the Indie bundle packs or on IndieGameStand, where you'll get the game very cheaply, or for as much as you think its worth.
