Mars City Security: A Doom3 Next Generation COOP Mod

Credits to the amazing Doom3 Community members that make MCS possible

-==March 2015 Update==-

Hey folks,

with all our recent talking about netcode and COOP gameplay optimizations we figured that the PVP players among you might start to wonder if there will be a PVP mode in MCS at all and of what quality it might be compared to the COOP gametype.

All we want to say is: "Fear not, for we plan to put the same amount of detail and attention to the PVP modes, as we currently are for the cooperative modes."

And to demonstrate that PVP in MCS is quite some fun (even in its current early stage) we've decided to share some recorded DeathMatch footage from last weekend's testing session...

And for all the tech-geeks interested in the current state of the netcode rewrite, we also share this recorded footage, where we push our new netcode to the limits with an average ~800ms ping delay between the clients and the dedicated server.

In total there were 8 enemy AIs, 3 Friendly AIs and 3 Human Player Clients connected and in constant combat with all weapons being projectile based and synced across the network...

Stay tuned for more updates...

Yeah remakes are screwing over older games, haven't developers ever heard of embracing a games limitations?
Not to mention John Carmack said he regretted that made Rage for the consoles, but then goes around and says there is no intentions for PC to be their lead platform. Hes saying the consoles is where theres money to be made but he agrees it can totally screw a game up, technically and depth wise. Like controls for instance hence why you won't be seeing strategy games on a console any time soon ect, yet hes totally happy to continue the trend with Doom 4.
Google If Doom Was Made Today, if you want to see how far the series could fall.

I'm not just talking about FPS, RPGs are getting shafted. Google, Elder Scrolls The Dumbing Down.

Skyrim is a perfect example of a shafed rpg game as it was done so to support and attract the noobs of the series.

Does anybody know how to edit the base campaign for mod uses? Just asking for some help because i am gathering all the maps and editing them using Dark Radiant but i want to know a way on how my changes would be saved for the mod that is in use, any help will do nicely :)

Not sure what you are asking...

The maps are located in one of the base pk4 files and you could certainly modify them in the editor then dmap them and pack them into a new pk4 to be placed in a mod directory. Shipping that in a Mod would not be legal though. To my knowledge, there's no tool to "patch" maps to include new changes though I suppose you could save all your edits to a layer in DR then save the contents of that layer as a "prefab". It would still encumber the player to insert the prefab to patch the map though...

That doesn't sound like a bad idea thank you :) Dude you are very helpful with these things you know that, well i was thinking on contributing for the Allied Marine Squads mod and revamping the campaign to be much more hectic and with help by the many different teams of marines, almost creating an Alien VS Predator 2 feel to the game its just that i don't have any knowledge on how to do it. Dark Radiant is a very useful tool and i thank you for you and your team in creating it, i'll have to keep experimenting but if you do know anything please tell me, i will appreciate it very much :) Til next time see you round nbohr :D
